UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $550.

The gas tank looks like it has the bigger filler hole like a M-38, but the opening looks to be CJ-3A.

“1950 CJ3A Willy’s Jeep with artic top. Great project jeep solid metal. Will need to be towed. Needs new battery and tires. Mechanic said it would take about an hour or so to get it running. It has been sitting for about 6 months. Clean title. Email if you want to come take a look.
The military commissioned a cold weather top, or “closure,” for use on the new M-38 Jeep Jeep which went into production in 1950. The cold weather closure, nicknamed the “arctic top,” saw action during the Korean war, and has a reputation as being the best-built aluminium top manufactured for either military or civilian Jeeps.”

I’m interested in your ’50 cj-3a with arctic top.

It appears to be stock M-38. Is it the 4 banger w/ 3-speed tranny and twin stick transfer?
Is it trailerable in its present condition?

    Where is Loma, CO?

This is not a top for an M38. The M38 aluminum top required the use of a vertical windshield, the windows in the doors were in two sections with the rear section sliding forward to open and the side and rear windows were larger than the top on this jeep. I’d guess this is one of many aftermarket tops made for jeeps.

    Paul:
I have a 1950 cj3a that would love to have a hard top. I live in northern california between sacramento and reno, nevada. We too have cold winters and deep, deep snow in the sierra’s.

I am mostly interested in the top, but would take the jeep as well. The arctic top is exactly what i’m looking for. Can you tell me more about the condition of the top. I’m not concerned about paint or broken glass. Is the top complete and do the doors and windows function properly?

Is the jeep trailerable in its present condition?

What part of the state is Lomo located in?

I would appreciate a return email to me directly with your phone number or call me on my land line so we can talk directly.

    Hi John …

Paul was just commenting that the top was not a M38 top, but he doesn’t have one for sale (this isn’t his ad). Sorry for any confusion on that front.

I run across M-38 tops during my searches and will email you some links for some if that would be helpful.

    Best,

    – Dave

oops .. I just realized you were looking for a CJ-3A top … which is easier to find. Again, I’ll email you regarding that.

I am looking for an old safari jeep to put in our Children’s Church because we are doing an African theme. Is your Jeep still for sale? If not, can you let me know where I can find one? We may be cutting it to mount on the wall so I need something reasonable and preferable one that doesn’t run 🙂
    Thanks for your help!
