I like the GE logo on the back of the searchlight. Guess it had a General Electric light bulb in it.

  2. Desert Jim 1960

It looks like a 1941-1944 GE 60″ searchlite with a 16.5 KW Generator. You still find a few in use.

It takes far more than a light bulb to operate one of those search lights. They are a carbon arc light and I’m far from a expert on them but it works similar to an arc welder to produce the light.
Just the thing to discourage tailgaters !

I was kidding about a big GE light bulb in the searchlight. If you’re my age, you remember when GE made a lot of electrical appliances. But in my younger days I changed a number of GE-marked light bulbs around the house so that’s I remember about that company the most, and I’m supposing others do too.
