I’ve updated the post to correct my own confusion.
“M38 for sale. The Engine and drivetrain are free(it turns over). Rusted but looks to have all parts but the seats. The windshield has a crack in one of the glasses.

I doubt this is an m38.” windshield has a crack in one of the glasses” suggests a 2 piece windshield, which is 2A or other. the other thing is that the m38 doesn’t have a fuel filter with a glass bowl on top. I also don’t see a cowl battery lid or a box in the engine compartment. bow holders aren’t standard issue on m38’s either….I don’t think. buyer beware! I think the ” free “refers to the condition of the engine and drivetrain not being seized.
