Man, was this thing parked on the bottom of the ocean??? Was hoping to see more pics of this, especially the winch…. but… it’s not on ebay any more…

    Hi Jon,

I’ve just added the pic of the winch for you. The ebay link is working fine for me. What happens when you click on the link?

Dave, the link worked fine for me. This actually has the F-head engine, unique front bumper, tailgate added, and a CJ spare tire bracket (I thought it was M38-ish at first). I’m really curious how deep this extensive rust goes. If it’s mostly surface rust, this is a nice find for someone.

Looks like it could be one of those Marine corps MZ radio jeeps. It has what looks like Ram horn style tow hooks up front on the frame rails, though they are bent. The MZ jeeps had those plus the tie down rings front and back. Just my observation.

In lieu of someone who actually knows something about MZ jeeps you are struck with me (for the time being) … With that disclaimer ….

Possibly a MZ jeep, but I think only a very few GPWs were made into USMC MZs? I also think this should have had an antenna mounted on the driver’s side.

Here’s a good thread with MZ photos:

And a GPW radio jeep discussion:

I believe the tow hooks are supposed to be bent, but I also remember someone explaining to me that different types of bent hooks were made over the years. Only a specific type of bent hook was used on the MZ and I think the ones used on the jeep above are incorrect for a MZ jeep. Check out this restoration that uses different hooks: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/74793-willys-mz-2-usmc-radio-jeep/

I thought it was a good observation and not something I’d considered, which is why I took the time to explore it in depth. Thanks!
