That’s a cool top. My brother had one on a cj5. All the doors slide, including the rear.

Spoke with the seller, the serial number on this DJ3A is 8203 24461. This is a Sept. 1964 build date but the Jeep is titled as a 1965, no doubt due to it not being sold until 1965. What is unusual is the 8203 model number. We don’t see many of these with the 8203 model designator, even with the delivery body style that this has. It may have something to do with the rear side windows this Jeep has, and most with the hardtop do not have the side windows. Most are given the 8202 model number.

Isn’t that tube crossmember supposed to be under the radiator… glad to see that tarp off:)

I think what you are looking at is not the tube crossmember, but the lower radiator hose for the Chevy V8. This DJ also has a CJ2A radiator and shroud and that radiator has to sit on the round crossmember. There are other modifications(cuts) made to fit the V8 into the chassis and body.

The exhaust manifolds look like chev 265’s to me. If it is a 265 cu. in. it has a front engine block mount. At least that what this old 66 yr old brain remembers. I agree that looks like a radiator hose. I remember the 283 having rear exit outlets.

If it had side mounts, those exhaust manifolds would interfere. Wonder how many 265’s are floating around. That motor might be worth some money if its a 265.

Bob, I was under the impression that they worked with V8s. I thought the biggest issue was fitting the V8 into the space without removing the original radiator.

Looked at DJ3a on 4-11-2015, this is rare example of how pictures make it look way better than it actually is. Previous owner had passed away and his wife is trying to sell. V-8 install is rough with old school front engine plate. Door tracks rusted top and bottom. Can it be fixed yes just require more skills then I have. House is for sale so someone might get it cheaper then listed price. I’m not the type of guy who wants to take advantage of a widow, but honestly if it was worth $1300.00 I think it would have been sold. Best wishes to the seller and the buyer. I hope it finds a good home.

5 lug drums? I’ll bet it’s got DJ 5 running gear. All the DJ 3As were four lug right?
