Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This has “dual hub extensions”, which is why the front end axle and wheels look extra wide.

Runs and drives, but is a project. The “top” or cover looks to be made of fiberglass. I don’t know if this was a one-off or not, but I could see this being popular with the folks jeeping in the desert back in the day (much lighter than a Muller Top for example).

“This listing is for a 1940s Willys WWII Jeep. It is in non-running condition and being sold as-is. It is complete with a wooden and metal cab. There are some holes due to deterioration (rust) in the floor. The center of the rear of the jeep was removed to accommodate the double doors of the cab.This Jeep has been stored in a barn untouched for the past 60 years. It is either a 1944 or 1945. This is a 1959 or later CJ-3B (Note the side heater vent). Thanks to Andy for sharing it. It may be an optical illusion, but it looks like the top kind of angles down near the rear passenger lower edge. Maybe this is a CJ-3B that used to have a baggage ramp? (Prob not, but …)

Seller has been told this is worth quite a bit ($25k). I’m less sure about that evaluation. I see nothing to suggest it is a 1941 FORD GP.

The frame horns suggest this is a CJ-2A chassis topped with a DJ-3A body and hardtop.

Tim shared this pic on Facebook (not for sale). It shows a jeep with a DJ-3A body and, possibly, a CJ-5 hardtop, both with a custom extension, atop a four wheel drive chassis. He plans to talk to the owner to learn more about it.

“What you are looking at is an original Willys Jeep hard top. The top is in very good shape and complete minus the back glass. The windows roll up and down and the latches work great. I will have it off the Jeep today or tomorrow. This will fit the CJ2A Willys or the CJ3A, M38, MB or Ford GPW if you use a CJ2A windshield.”
