It runs, but it may need a little work. Seller hasn’t driven it very far.

“This 1948 Willys was a fun summer project that I no longer have time for. It has the more powerful Willys Hurricane engine or F134.

When I purchased the Willys it was not running or driving, so I went through it. Fluids changed: brake lines flushed, gas tank was dumped and fresh gas put in, coolant, engine oil (2 engine oil changes actually), transfer oil, transmission oil, front differential, rear was only topped off.

Electrical was cleaned up, replaced a lot of wires including battery/starter wires (the old ones tried to catch fire!) head light switch installed. I did not get around to the turn signal switch. The speedometer and cable and cable housing were replaced as the ones on the cj were broken, but I kept the original speedometer since it had the mileage on it and I figured some one more competent than me might like to try and fix it.

Carburetor was re-gasketed / rebuilt and a missing choke cable was installed. The fuel lines were replaced and a couple of fuel filters helped clean this all up. New air cleaner replaced old rotted one. There is a second tank but I did not put in the hose for it yet.

Completely new front brake lines, I bought a brake master rebuild but after the lines replace the current one was working so I didn’t go into it. Parking brake was freed and new cable and housing installed, this was completely missing, parking brake is nice to have!

Front hubs were disassembled and re greased with the brake job. It has manual hubs front and rear so flat towing is a breeze. I installed a front tow bar for towing since it is old and more of an off road than modern day road machine.

I had only gotten it driving and been around my block when the transmission slipped out of gear. The 4 wheel drive works, and so does low range. My work got super busy and I haven’t had a spare day to dig into it since september so now I am putting it up for sale. This is probably an easy fix, I might look into it this weekend and if I fix it before I sell it the price will go up.

Clean tittle and registration was paid a few days ago, hope to pass this nice little beast on to a fellow enthusiast.
