    An American Hero

    Mr. Bill Barrington.

i met BILL at a local antique car show 10 years ago. he went out of his way to say hello. he was driving one of his cool ass old military trucks. he was 82 then and had a compartment in the truck filled with ice and cold beer. we had one together that day and many other times.

this man was a man’s man. a Marine’s Marine. he was 18 when he fought along side his brother in Okinawa. his brother didn’t make it. not sure if bill was wounded or not. pound per pound i don’t think many could match him. i met him when he was 82 and he was in excellent shape.

his trucks. jeeps and the rest of the stuff he had, man some cool military stuff. he kept them all running like a top. did all/most the work himself. i saw him tear down a transmission and put it back together in a couple days.

for years bill would have all his vehicles driven in the Veterans day parade, many times with local military brass seated. the last couple years i saw bill in the veterans day parade both times his jeep being towed. bill could no no longer take care of them. his wonderful daughter candy taking care of bill these last years. sadly his son William was no where to be seen.

bill spent most of his life just outside Boston running a successful tree service business before moving to Carolina years ago.

anyone who gets one of his trucks will be lucky to have it. they are all in very nice shape. i don’t like military stuff or i would be all over this.

he has a military staff car that is the coolest car i ever saw. i would encourage anyone who likes military cars, some VERY unique ones, trucks/jeeps, staff cars to check this auction out.

Rest in Peace Bill. Hope to see you again one day.
