This Jeep belonged to my neighbor in Lubbock, Texas, 20 years ago. An auto tech class did the engine swap and paint job, but I don’t remember if it was a high school or junior college program. It is neat to see it’s still plugging along and made it all the way up to Maine.

Chad, Wow, thanks for the history. I’m thinking of checking it out if the owner is willing to let me buy it via bank finance. Funny enough I moved from Texas to Maine.

I ended up buying this Jeep, I had to replace the 350 motor (was not a 283, but the intake was from one) and the mechanic could tell the engine had multiple parts that had been repaired inside, I imagine that was part of the auto class. I was putting up for the winter last year and something in the drivetrain broke and I’ve been dragging my feet over spending more money on it. It has been a fun Jeep to take on the trails. One of the previous owners used synthetic oil in the transmission so when I changed it, there was fools gold (brass from syncros) aplenty. I learned from Herm’s website not to replace it with synthetic, but the damage had been done.
