Brian shared this post from the AACA site that shared information about an IH Scout toy, a dealer promo that was given away or sold. I’ve never seen that toy, but I was also never around Scouts much either.

There’s one of these on eBay, with the box. It’s pricey, but cheaper than a similar quality Al-Toy would be.

I remember the old Scout, arguably one of the biggest POS 4wds ever made. However, the Scout II was an awesome machine, but didn’t sell well as the first Scout had already tarnished it’s reputation.

excuse me , but we had a 1961 scout , 1st year , and it was a pretty tough little machine — i liked the fold down windshield , got busted in town with it folded down once — i liked the long wheelbase compared to a jeep — it was basically a jeep with a I-H slant 4 motor and body — flipped it over once off a jeep road — built a trail with axes up to the road , filled the fluids , and DROVE IT BACK UP !! — THATS TOUGH ENOUGH !! — never drink rum and drive — i liked the rear posi-axle , a lot of them came with posi — i liked the highway driveability , way better that an underpowered f-4 cj jeep — with a warn overdrive it was even better !! — a buddy of mine had one too ,and i remember a trip to the sierras and ( 1 ) broken rear axle , it was overloaded , too many people and stuff in the car , plus we were on a dirt washboard road going down to the stanislaus river , driving way too fast , this scout had the warn od — — i’m a jeep guy but all in all the scout wasnt a bad little rig ..

Knowing IH, that toy box probably has an IH part number on it and could have been ordered thru a dealer.
Having grown up around Scouts, I like them.

My brothers and I each had received these at the dealership as our dad had bought new a 1962 then a 1967 Scout. And yes, we still have them. Oh… and a 1972 Scout II that we learned to drive in and take our driver’s test in.
