“This is a: NOS 1960’s Jeep Dash Accessory COMPASS ASSEMBLY KIT Factory Part 933536 RARE. This compass is in good, unused condition and appears ready for installation. It shows no signs of ever being mounted or used. The compass is working well, as intended. This kit comes complete with mounting bracket and hardware. The body is green in color which appears to be one of 3 different colors offered, according to the instruction sheet. The paperwork states this to be correct for J-Series applications and is dated 1963. This is a must have for any serious Jeep collector or restorer. This is the first new old stock Jeep compass I’ve come across in my many years of collecting parts. This will make a great addition to your classic restoration project.”

I had one of those on my 68 Wagoneer! The teenager who owned it before me proudly pointed out that it lit up at night and boasted that he actually installed it himself. Had I known it would be so valuable, I would have kept it when I sold the Waggy for $400.

I had an NOS one of these in our inventory. Mint green also. Gave it as a bonus to a friend who sold me his 2A Wrecker as he was restoring a 63 mint green step-side (Thriftside). We have a 1962 leatherette factory introduction book to the J-line with actual color photographs pasted into gold framing and with all the data. They apparently offered 3 color interiors: the mint green, an off-metallic blue, and a mild metallic gold. In each photo, it shows this color-matching compass dead center top of dash almost against the windshield. For both truck and Wagoneer. While the instruction sheet (above) is dated July, 1963, they are shown in actual 1962 color photographs in the book.
