All original, CJ 2A with the iconic Go Devil engine. This little Willys has all original drivetrain. It runs great! Starts, steers and stops as it should. New clutch. What is the pipe along and through the winshield frameI have never seen that before. What does it do?
The way the pipe ends come out of the front of the windshield frame, about the only thing it could be is a vent…but only IF there are holes or slits on the bottom of the pipe in the inside. In hot weather it might cool your feet.
Maybe.
Or else, it is just a oversize grab bar and they made the front of the pipe come through the frame to help secure it.
I had meant to comment on that bar, as it’s not something I’ve seen before. My *guess* is that it feeds air into the cab area, but why go to all that trouble? I’m not sure.
I wondered why the mid vent wasn’t used for air, but then I noticed a black fabric(?) over the vent. Maybe it could be filled with ice and the air would be forced through the tub, drawing cool air from the ice? But, I could be totally wrong about that.

Ahh, it does look like a vent. If you zoom-in on the photo you can see holes to allow air to blow on the driver and passenger.
Those are thruster rockets like on the lunar lander, so he can spin the jeep 90 degrees to be able to drive it out that roll up door.
