Warn Hub Thread

Maury has assembled a useful Warn Hub thread. I’ve been meaning to write a Warn article, but have yet to get to it. The warn hubs can be confusing, as the Warn Locking Hub, Lock-O-matic Hub, and Automatic hub all look similar.

wow , this is more warn info than I can process ? I have boxes of warn hubs , early summer hubs to the latest spring loaded cj style — i’m pretty sure I have no warn hubs that say ” automatic ” they are all ” lock-o-matic ” — then I see an early advertising brochure saying the lock-o-matics are called automatic ? — then the forum members say the later automatic models were cheapo junk ? — how about a grading system for warn hubs , 1 to 5 ? , these are good , don’t use these ? — I haven’t used my lock o matics yet , and I see theres a lot of small parts in them — I have some n.o.s. ones , I might want to keep them that way — I have been using the old style warn locking hubs since the late 60’s , no probs , rebuild , regrease them once in awhile . good for years ..

According to Hugo (who sold the Automatics when the came out) they weren’t very reliable. That probably examples why there aren’t many around.

David – I need to send a picture of the back side of the automatic hubs to Maury. They are unlike any other Warn I have seen.
John North Willys – I would like to see your collection. I am still looking for a couple of models that I do not have.
