Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1947 Willys Jeep CJ2A for sale. I bought this Jeep in 1999. I am only the third owner of this 70 year old vehicle. I completed a total frame off restoration on it. Everything was restored to original with the exception of a 12 volt conversion. I have taken this Jeep to two car shows and did win an award at one of them.
Since I did a lot of the work myself, this could be considered an amateur restoration. Some of the work completed during the restoration include: Engine was rebuilt by Ron’s machine shop in Ohio – Frame was sandblasted and painted – Wheels were sandblasted and powder coated – New body tub and front fenders from Willys-Overland in Toledo – Original hood, grill, tailgate, and windshield frame – I rebuilt transmission, transfer case, and carburetor.”

“The jeep runs great with a new starter. Body is not too bad, needs TLC. Needs: paint, sanding body work. Mileage is 87500. Not sure it’s right. New tires, wheels & beauty rims. The jeep is in original shape.4 cyl. L head 134CI. All gears work good. Some rust on underside. Good exhaust system, heater, lights work good, Electric windshield wipers . Seats are fair to good condition. Floor boards good. Tool box under passenger seat with jack goes with. Has spare tire carrier. Has normal oil leaks on old jeeps. Hubs work good. Doesn’t smoke. Full rag top with doors.

“This is a 1946 CJ2A Serial Number 48768 that is in original barn find condition. It has the hard to find governor and rear PTO setup for a farm jeep. It has many original part and has the original motor in it. It does not run, the motor does not turn over and the transmission and transfer case seem to be stuck as well. It is a great candidate for a restoration or just repair what’s needed and drive it. The front floors are the worst of the sheet metal, the rear quarter near the spare tire mount will need some work as well and the windshield is shot.”

A great candidate for a vintage restoration or leave as is as a daily driver. “1948 CJ2A with stock drivetrain. 12 volt conversion with key start. Runs, Drives, shifts as it should. 4X4 works like it should. All levers shift smoothly. I drive it daily to work and it has just under 1300 miles on it since we finished out the build. I have clean and clear title in hand. Normandy Blue rust free tub with period correct Sunset Red factory solid wheels ( really orange.. don’t ask me lol it’s a jeep thing) wrapped in non directional period correct tires really make this Jeep stand out. Super classy and turns head and gets thumbs ups everywhere I go.”

“1948 Willys Jeep CJ2A. This jeep is currently not operational due to inoperative brakes. The new master cylinder is still in the box. The installed engine is a 4-cylinder flat head and there is a 2nd engine included that is an overhead cam engine (also 4 cylinder). The electrical system has been converted from 6 volt to 12 volt. The installed engine was running when it was last used. It has been stored in covered parking for quite a while.. This jeep is a real bargain for the right person!”
