Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1947 Jeep CJ2A survivor. This Jeep was last registered and driven in 1978. It has been in dry storage and only recently been prepared for sale. Repairs include a new fuel tank, brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders and miscellaneous brake lines and hoses. The generator has been rebuilt and a new voltage regulator installed. The carburetor has been rebuilt and the water pump replaced. The tires are new period correct non directional 6.00X16 reproductions. This Jeep starts easily, runs smoothly and carries good oil pressure and does not smoke. The transmission shifts properly and yes, it jumps out of second gear. The transfer case operates properly. It has had one repaint from Picket gray to tan in the 1970’s. The paint is scratched but still has a shine. Included is the original canvas 1/2 cab top which is only good for a pattern. It currently has a black top that is very serviceable. It is also equipped with a Shenecker hand pump snow plow. Rust through is limited to the tool box”

(09/17/2024) According to the seller this was a Navy contract CJ-2A. It’s not clear what evidence the seller has, but there might be a plate under the serial plate on the firewall. This would be a rare 2A if that’s the case.

This is a project of some type. The body looks to be a replacement body, so hard to tell if this has a WWII or CJ chassis/

This jeep may be worth a look. Is that hitch unusual? It looks like three rods/bolts are holding it in place.

“This is a 1947 Willy’s CJ-2A with a custom firewall in order to fit the 283 SBC V8 under the hood.
-new exhaust (shorty headers and cherry bomb side pipes).
-The commonly upgraded CJ-3A one piece windshield installed.
-3-speed t-90 with a twin stick Dana 18 transfer case
-both early Dana 27(upgrade)/41 offset axles with upgraded 11” Jeep brakes + lockout manual hubs
-1” lift rancho springs + greasable shackles
-Battery relocation to the rear
-Upgraded aluminum radiator and high placement alternator bracket.
-JUST INSTALLED new fuel pump, filter, new 235/75/15 tires and round hole steel offset pro comp rims.
-Has both turn signals, tail lights, SUPER bright led headlights and hi/low beam floor switch, The turn signal switch needs to be replaced due to weather
-Chevy steering column and manual steering box w/ added cross over steering linkage upgrade
-Axles have been converted to spring over with custom CV joint driveshafts (can flip back to SUA if desired)
Clean CO title with “0” odometer reading, price is negotiable in person.
Need some work, but runs. Most likely it’s a 1946.

“For Sale. 1946 Willys CJ2A. Located in Muscoda, Wisconsin 53573. $2,500. Ran and drove last year. Driver side and passenger side floors, and tool box are rusted out. Brakes are out, but has new shoes and hard brake lines, but probably needs new soft lines. Windshield has plexiglas bolted in. Column shift. Converted to 12 volt. This was my fathers farm Jeep. I have the clear title in my name.”
It sounds like this went through a flood. Seller lost his house. Most pics show this in progress, but the initial pic shows it together. So, I’m not sure how complete this is.
