Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I have a 1946 wills cj2a project . I picked it up to work on with no paperwork . After countless trips to dmv and highway patrol it now has a pink slip and is registered non op. It is complete original as far as I know . I don’t have time or the money any more to do anything with it so it’s sitting in my garage . I was told it fired before I towed it home but I didn’t see it myself . If you have the time and knowledge it’s a great project ”

It’s a project.
“I have a 1946 Willys cj2a with a lot of work done on restoring it. I also have a 1948 Willys cj2a body with excellent frome and axles in this deal. The 46 has most body work done, new tail gate, tail gate surround and a few other metal parts. The floors are great, I made a 2×3 sq. tube frame with new spring mounts, the trans and transfer case are rebuilt, I have a extra trans that is no good and I have a complete engine that needs rebuilt. I have lots of new parts and the 46 is complete except no steering wheel. The 46 is a great looking project. The 48 body needs lots of work but can easely be repared if you are good at this kind of work. I have almost $6000. in all and I’ll sell everything for $4500. “I have a yellow CJ2A for sale. The body is in pretty good shape and is certainly usable. It will need some work on the floor but that is the only 100% need.
The axles do roll and have good wheels on them. The transfer case does shift. The motor is seized. I do have another motor I could sell with it possibly.

It’s a project. Lots of pics provided.
“Complete 1947 Willys Jeep Project. This Jeep was converted to run with a 192 engine. It was a running driving Jeep before is was disassembled to be restored. Everything to get it going again is there. It has all been stripped and the frame was sand blasted and painted. The front and rear end were totally gone through. The entire brake system has been re done. Also, brand new springs were installed. The transmission has the warn overdrive installed on it!! The rims are in good shape. The tub needs a little bit of rust cut out on the front floor, painted and reassembled. I have both front seat frames and the hard to find rear seat frame.”

“I’m selling my ’48 Willys project. I started off with a body off restoration. Frame sand blasted, primed and painted. Eng and trans painted. New yokes and seals on the transfer case. New brakes from the master cylinder to the wheel cylinders. Many new engine parts and new air intake. New rear crossmember/bumper. Refurbished radiator. New body panels that haven’t been installed. New gauges. I got a little in over my head when it comes to restoration.”

(10/07/2014) Looks solid. Seller believes the jeep was built in 1945, though it seems to be missing the column shift and a couple other items. It does have full floating rear hubs.
