Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (08/18/2012) The movie Tugger, the Jeep 4×4 Who Wanted to Fly is based on the book by the same name.
“This is a CJ2A that was used as a Movie Promotional Mascott. The Movie “TUGGER, THE JEEP 4X4 WHO WANTED TO FLY” was released in 2005. I bought this CJ2A from the man that owned the Rights to Movie and the Promotional Items. It is titled and runs great. It has been entered in Car Shows and has won Trophies and “Best of Show”. The paint Scheme is of the Air Force Thunderbirds. It has the Insignia of the Thunderbirds and was rebuilt along with the engine by the Sponsers; The Air Force, Jeep, Shell Oil, Orlando Genesis and Arnald Palmer Hospital for Children and Women. KIDS LOVE IT! Many comments at traffic lights. Beautiful eye catcher! It can be used for Memorial Day, 4th of July, Parades and Funerals (or just plain enjoyable driving). Not many miles since rebuild according to the tires. I fly the American Flag and Air Force Flag on special occasions.”

“1948 Willys CJ2A Jeep – This is an off chassis complete restoration. The frame is perfectly straight and solid. This jeep was very well taken care of and cared for. All the parts in this jeep are just about brand new. Transmission and transfer case have all new parts where needed. The engine is a rebuilt by professionals and only has 288 miles on it. The 9″ brakes have been replaced with 11″ drum brakes both front and rear, all parts are new. It also has a duel bowl master cylinder – new. It has new front and rear leaf springs and accessories. Bumpers are new, front and rear. The engine has been converted to 12 volt system. It has a brand new carburator, radiator and various engine parts. It has a warn Husky overdrive – New/Rebuilt. It has all new gauges, tinted glass in windshield, steering box has been rebuilt, and windshield wipers are new. The heater box runs awesome – it throws out plenty of heat. Shocks are new front and rear, tires and rims are new – BF Goodrich All-terrain T/A L-235/85R 16″. It has a complete original reproduction brand new wiring harness from Maine Vintage Wiring Harness Company. It also has an electric fuel pump which runs perfectly. The body is straight as an arrow with base coat clear coat paint. Many other new parts, too many to list. This vehicle can be inspected by anyone interested local to Salem, New Hampshire. I do have the original rims and tires that came with the vehicle, they will go with it. It also comes with a grey bikini top not shown in photos. The overall condition of this jeep is next to perfect. The jeep rides very well, the shifing gear box is tight and the overdrive is great. This jeep is a real head-turner. It’s great at the beach, people keep asking me hundreds of question when I pull in.”

Here’s an interesting jeep. It has an unusual paint job, an unusual roll cage and unusual rear lights.

It has a newly rebuilt and rebored engine with new pistons and crank. All grease has been recently changed and the breaks have been gone through. It has been converted from a 6 volt to a 12 volt electrical system. We have owned this Jeep since 1961. I am a mechanic and have stayed on top of the maintenance.
It is a fun vehicle to own and drive.
It comes with a bikini style top and a tow bar. There is a roll bar that I removed that is also included. There is a pto, drive shaft and gearbox which are also included.
Everything on this Jeep works. It is an attention getter! You will enjoy driving this.”

This appears to have a replacement body. It includes an overdrive. This looks like a good price. There have been modifications on the front end. The grill looks M-38ish, too. The windshield from a M-38.

“This Willys has an older restoration. It was done about 9 years ago. Always has been garaged. The engine and drive train operate like they should tight and smooth. The engine runs like a sewing machine very quite. The trans. operates in all gears like it should. Four wheel drive work perfect. Interior, gauges, lights, heater, wipers, etc. operate perfect. It has the rear seat, and the original hard top. The hard top was never painted. I have the soft doors and i use them for the hard top. This Willys needs nothing to enjoy. New seats, fuel pump, filter, plugs, battery and electric coil. Fuel system just flushed. Decent rubber though some cracks in treads. Brought up to running condition and repainted original color a few years ago by a mechanic (not a full restoration, just up to speed). Lots of fun. People love it, especially kids! “this is an exceptional, well cared for Jeep. with all the right upgrades. the engine is a Chevy 350 the trans is Chevy truck it has a 2 stick transfer case with super low gear reduction. 4 link long travel coil spring rear suspension and lifted leafs in front. it has power stearing and the tires are bogger super swampers 16-35-16 on Weld 16×10.5 aluminum wheels. Ramsey 8000 lb winch with new cable and new motor. front and rear diffs are Toyota with toyota brakes. metal hard top comes with it. tags good thru 5/13”
