Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This jeep restored close to 20 years ago my dad bought in enumclaw and passed away two years after getting it. it has been garaged ever since with an occasional summer day trip. it has a V-6 Buick motor auto transmission which only has a few hundred miles on it. Dual fuel tanks, a warn winch 8000# has a heater in side also warn overdrive. you can go 60 miles an hour down the highway.”

(04/06/2011) This needs a little work, but might have a body in good condition.
“1951 Willy’s CJ3 My grandfather bought this new years ago. I haven’t run it for a few years because it likes to overheat but it did run last time I tried. It still has the original motor. The paint is weathered but the unit doesn’t have any major damage to it. The four wheel drive still works. The front brakes do need some work on them. The top isn’t the original one that came on it. The gas tank would also need to be replaced. The metal gas tank has accumulated rust on the inside. Email me if you want to make an offer. I’ve already been offered $2000 for it. I will not ship the item and will only accept cash for the sale.”
UPDATE: Bill picked up this parts jeep. It turns out this was a DJ-3A with some rare pieces. He is happy he went to look!
The body doesn’t appear too bad. The hood looks tweaked. If a ‘great’ project is one that requires a lot of work, then this really is a great project.

(07/15/2009) There’s been some interesting choices on the customization of this CJ-3A. Note the gas filler location for example on the back.

This Jeep runs down the road like a brand new one, just way cooler!! It is fantasic off the road too.”

(04/11/2011) The cut of the door really changes the look of this rig. The running gear sounds good.The front springs appear reversed and put over the axle.

“This Jeep was stored in a barn for 30 years and has a great body plus a Pa. title. 11″ Bendix brakes and a Hurricane F-4 engine are from a CJ5. “Basically all original, but not running. No title.
In my opinion, the frame, transmission, transfer case and running gear are usable for someone wanting a project. Original 4-cyl motor turns over by hand. It was running and I drove it around many years ago. I completely disassembled it in preparation for a rebuild, but lost interest and moved on to other projects. I still have ALL the parts. Instruments, latches and detail pieces were stored indoors. Hood, grill, window frame and tailgate are solid with surface rust. Seat frames are in great shape.
