Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1954 Willys Jeep CJ-3B – Complete ground up restoration 12 years ago. Rebuilt original overhead l4 motor, including hardened valve seals for unleaded fuel. Still has the original oil bath air cleaner. Approximately 11,000 miles. Upgraded to 11″ drums all around. Has 2-1/2″ springs on it with 31X 10.5 tires 75+% tread. All stock running gear, 5-38 gearing with lock-right locker in the rear. Has custom fully welded Bumpers front and rear both with 2″ receivers. Rear bumper includes spare tire mount with full size spare. Custom power steering. Newer optima red top battery. Custom winch. Custom Roll cage. LOTS MORE CUSTOM FEATURES. Thousands invested.

“For sale is a good running Jeep CJ3B. The body has been patch paneled on the floor boards but is really solid overall. Has a brand new windshield frame but needs glass. The front seats are quite nice. The frame is very good and solid. Engine runs very well with good oil pressure and does not smoke. Tranny shifts very smoothly and the 4WD all works. Has premium lock out hubs. The head and tail lights work but no front turn signals. Overall a pretty solid jeep to use as is. This would also be a great candidate for a total restoration because it is pretty complete and has a really good frame.”

(02/22/2014) This jeep has a ventilating windshield.
“I’m looking to sell or trade my 1960 Willys/Jeep CJ3B. These Jeeps are highly sought after by collectors and 4×4 enthusiasts alike, especially in original condition. I’ve recently had a new exhaust system installed, rebuilt the transmission, purchased a new top, tires, and had the seats reupholstered. It runs and drives great, and shifts through all gears (including 4WD H/L) perfectly. It has rust spots on the body. It has a clear Kansas title, and can be tagged as an antique, which costs around $40 in Kansas.”

Not an ‘absolute’ original, but pretty close. For example, the gauges have been replaced. A second set of lights is on the grille . … etc. But, it is a good looking jeep.

UPDATE: Still Available. This is probably a CJ-3B body on a 3A frame, but could be a 3B with an incorrect title. If not those two, then who knows.

“I have a 61 willy’s Cj-3B for sale. Runs and drives with original hurricane engine. minimal rust on frame and body, restoration started(new windshield frame, oak blocks pivot bolts). I do not have the time or energy to start another project so this jeep has to go.”

A CJ-3B body has been adapted onto a CJ-5 chassis. The grill has been extended several inches to compensate for the longer frame.
“1972 CJ5 Frame and running gear. CJ3A body and AMC Javilin 401 cu in engine with fenderwell headers, holley 500 carb, torq cam. Has front and rear fuel tanks. Runs but needs tuneup.”

“I have a couple Jeeps I need to see gone,,, Due to health problems I have to sell 4 of my Jeeps… 1964 CJ5 $2000,,, 1981 Cj5 $1500,,, 1985 CJ7 $2000 all of them ran when driven to my house,, so it shouldn’t take much to get them going,,, The 4 Jeep Is a Project Jeep That needs some welding done to it & assemble also,, It started as a 1974 CJ5 that needed a body real bad,, & I found a 1958 CJ-3B body on the eastern shore,,, It was modified to fit someone elses 74CJ5 & he need cash so i brought her home for mine,,, Fresh AMC 360 to go with it and everything to putt it together form Gauges to new top hat channels to weld in to mount that body to the Cj5 frame,, I have lots of photos i have collected over the years on photobucket on how to mount the 74 hanging pedals & run the steering shaft I have build this thing 3 times in my head so i would be willing to help you with any knowledge or information I have…. “I recently purchased an estate of Willy’s CJ Jeeps and Parts, and I think I am ready to see if anyone needs parts or project vehicles. Mostly vintage with many early Willy’s CJ2A’s in complete condition and various stages. I have tubs also, some even bead blasted and ready to go. Looks like a fair amount of CJ5 and possibly early CJ7 as well. Look at the photos, that will give you an idea, most of the vehicles with wheels have complete drive trains. There are many loose front ends, rear ends, transmissions, and engine parts, as well as body parts.”
