Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This is a ’53 Willys Jeep that has been in my family for many years and was in running condition when parked in the barn about five years ago.It has it’s original Hurricane flat head four cylinder engine that always ran really good and I’m sure it would again with a little TLC.This Jeep has not been off of my family’s farm in over twenty years and is still in pretty solid shape as it has always been kept in the barn.I can’t guarantee it’s mechanical condition but would only imagine it would still run with a little work.Thanks for looking and good luck!”

“First year of the willys high hood. Jeep has Buik 225ci v6 conversion kit, with a Warn overdrive. 33inch Tires, jeep has air compressor under the hood, which when activated fills the rear bumber compressor resevoir to 120lbs. Rear bumber has pneumatic hose fittings and preassure gages. Brand new master cylinder, brand new clutch, brand new sending unit, brand new front axel, and has a brand new starter. Jeep has locking tool boxes in the rear. Bmw bucket seats 5point restraint seatbelts. Jeep has air horn under the hood (Very loud). Rolls down freeway 70mph no problem. Rear locking and unlocking hubs so jeep may be towed behind motorhome. Comes with softop, softdoors, and towbar. Fully padded roll cage, tilt steering. Jeep runs excellent, two five gallon spare gas tanks mounted behind spare tire on back of jeep. After market heater installed. Jeep still has originall manufatures plate under the hood.
This appears to be a very nice rebuild and update. There’s lots to like here.

(10/12/09) Here’s a nice looking CJ-3B. Rack and Pinion Steering?
“1953 Willys CJ B3 Jeep. 4 Cylinder; Manuel transmission. Gray interior and exterior. Has been restored. Runs good and drives good. Engine, running gear, brakes, all have been rebuilt. Rack and pinion power steering. I also have orginal steering parts, and it can be converted back to the orginal steering system. Tow Bar. All new: carb., fuel pump, starter, alternator, gas tank, gauges, electronic dist., tires.”
This is that rare M38-CJ-CJ2A-CJ3B Model … Mixed parts, mixed model numbers, and an unusual VIN Number make this a bit of a puzzle. The VIN is unusual because, according to all the records I have seen, the highest CJ-2A VIN is 224764. So, something isn’t right here.

“1958 Willys CJ-3B jeep for sale. Only three owners — a Virginia farmer, a teenage boy who restored it, and my dad, who bought it in 1992 to haul firewood on weekends in West Virginia. It has been sitting in my garage in Chevy Chase for the last 8 years or so. It is totally solid and runs great. Very low mileage/time since engine was rebuilt. All original except seats and tailgate and roll bar. More photos available.”
