UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5200
It seems the hood overhangs the grille a little more than I would think it should. Not sure exactly why that is. I also haven’t seen too many batteries mounted on the driver’s side.

A reader submitted this great find. As the seller suggests, this looks pretty bone stock. I can’t quite tell if the sides of the body are rusty or not.

FINAL UPDATE: Melanie has sold her Jeep. Congratulations!
Melanie provided some interesting information she gleaned from the sale of her jeep. Most notably, when comparing ebay, craigslist, and auto trader, Melanie felt like she got by far the most quality responses from the auto trader magazine.
She also reports:
“What I experienced while trying to sell the jeep may not be new to others, but was an eye opener for me!
I had one guy tell me that I had misrepresented the jeep and that I didn’t know what I was talking about. He basically was trying to bully me into lowering my price. I did a lot of research before I ran my ad to make sure that everything I stated was true and accurate. Still, it was unpleasant being called a liar.
Another guy was a smooth/fast talker and very aggressively insisted that I had agreed in a previous phone conversation to sell him the jeep for way below my asking price. While he was talking circles around me, I started thinking to myself “wow, this is what it’s like to be scammed!” The conversation ended with me saying “uh, wait…” and him saying a check is in the mail *click*. I returned his check via certified mail.
On a positive note, I’ve talked to a lot of great jeep enthusiasts from all over the United States. The majority have been polite and pleasant to talk to. The ad I ran in the Auto Trader Classics magazine generated a lot of serious inquiries. It was much more productive than e-bay or craigslist. ”
Thanks for info Melanie!
**SOLD**
Except for some minor issues, such as the bend in the hood at the middle and missing items from the dashboard, this looks pretty good.
“1953 Willys Jeep. 4×4, PTO driven winch, 3 speed on the floor. Army green, new seats, recently restored. Runs good, but could use a carb adjustment(will die if left to idle for more than a few minutes). Carport kept. Paint is good except flaking on hood. Great for camp, or just to play. I am posting for my boss, he just has no time for it. call scott (225)975-7787”
UPDATE: The price has, inexplicably, gone up $2000 to $34,900 over the past month.
A reader reminded me that this is only 2 wheel drive and that it’s been for sale for a few years. But, it’s a nice looking CJ-3B, so I thought it was worth posting.
“350, 350 TURBO AUTO TRANS, POSI TRACTION”
Here’s a good looking CJ-3B that comes with a few new parts. The starting bid is $2599.00. This could be a navy jeep.
“Built in April of 1961. Engine was rebuilt several years ago and runs better than when new. Transmission and transfer case are in great shape and the 4×4 is fully functioning. The body goes like this: Windshield frame is rusty but I have a replacement that goes with the deal. Hood is good, rightside fender is good, left side fender has some rust but I also have a nice replacement fender that goes with the deal. All the steering and suspension is good and road worthy….”
UPDATE: The price on this was $800, which just goes to show that there are some great deals if you look hard enough ….
Here’s a CJ-3B parts jeep with a never-mounted replacement body. This is definitely worth a look.

UPDATE: The price has dropped to $5000. This has been for sale since Aug.
This seller has installed a variety of new parts on this CJ-3B (and I think lists every single one in the ad). Looks like the body’s in decent shape. I’m thinking the seller was attempting to restore it, but now needs to sell it.

This is pretty beat up for a $1500 jeep.
“running gears, trany and rear end good, needs some motor and body work, hasn’t been started for a few years $1500”
“1947 willys with cj3b body civilian, 327 corvette engine, 4 speed muncie, overdrive, the new body hasn’t been cut or drilled for guages $2500.00. “
We have a buyer with CASH for a CJ-3B Body and Fenders.
“I need a 3b body tub and a set of front fenders, new or used. Have cash!!! Any help would be great. thanks (360)880-0205”
The body of this CJ has some dings, but otherwise looks pretty good.
“Flat fender, high hood, runs, 4×4 works well, brand new wild cat agressive tires, front tow bar, brand new Yukon bench seat for the back with seat belts (camo), brand new camo front seat covers. Great hunting rig!!! Wind sheild lays down.”
There’s some rust on the body, but this looks like it’s a very stock, quite complete CJ-3B. It might make a great restore project. Note the other flattie to the right in the pic.
“This is a Willys cj3b jeep that I bought with the intention of restoring. I do not have a title for this vehicle. I will give a bill of sale. I believe this jeep could be restored. The running gear is complete. I have not tried to start the engine. I believe this jeep was used as a plow jeep. It does have rust mostly in the back sections. It has a factory hard top that is solid, and could be brought back to like new condition. It would make a great restore project.”
Here’s a project CJ-3B. The pics don’t really show enough to know if this is a good deal or not.
“Selling my project 1964 cj3b. All parts are there and its all original except seats and wheels. No body rot but needs some sheetmetal work.Contact Scott@ (530)257-3630. $900.00 OBO”
This looks like a nice straight, non-abused CJ-3B.
” 64 CJ3B with all factory stock drivetrain. 134 F-Head Engine. Gears are 4:27 ratio. WITH 31,013 ORIGINAL MILES. Everything works with the exception of emergency brake and gas gauge. There is no top with this Jeep. The Jeep Runs and Drives EXCELLENT! I have added a Rancho 2 1/2 inch lift with Ranch R-S 5000 Shocks. Tires are Interco Super Swamper TRXUS radials mounted on what I believe are vintage Jackman 15X10 Wheels. Alson has new factory style exhaust system. This is a very quiet, very solid Jeep CJ. The body has 2 small rust holes on the lower right body tub…”
All original CJ-3B with rebuilt engine. The body appears a bit rough in the pics and there appears to be rust along the passenger side.
“1958 CJ-3b Willys Jeep. Engine rebuilt Spring 2002. All original, what you see is what you get. Needs engine tune-up, ran when garaged. Body needs work. Tires are 33 x 12.5 BF Goodwrench MT’s- not new condition. Is a great trail vehicle, or a great restoration project. Serious inquiries only. Price negotiable. Must sell, moving soon. ”
No obvious issues with this CJ-3B.
“1953 WILLYS JEEP RUNS GREAT! WARN HUBS, WARN WENCH, SOFT TOP W/DOORS GREAT CONDITION. NEW SEATS WITH EXTRA SET OF NICE WINTER COVERS. 15″ STEEL WHEELS W/32/11-50/15 TIRES. BURGANDY PAINT. GREAT DEAL”
This is a pretty high price for a project that still needs the engine rebuilt (among other things done). I’m kind of wondering what part of this is rack n’ pinion.
“Must sell asap due to medical reasons. CJ3B High hood jeep. This is a project car and would be really nice once finished. Dana 60 rearend, front disc brakes, rack n pinion, top loader 4 speed, boxed frame, engine needs rebuilt 69 ford 302.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5500.
Here’s a solid looking CJ-3B. No obvious rust, few noticable mods, and a straight body.
“I am selling a classic Willys CJ3-B from 1959 for $5500 OBO. The interior and engine are original and in good condition. The paint is a nice grey and in very good condition, just not the original any more.”
Not many specifics listed. It appears mostly stock. Only one pic in ad.
“For Sale – 1955 Willys Jeep with cover. It is a 3-speed with 4-wheel drive low. Brand new tires!”
Can you tell what’s been done to this CJ-3B? The builder has extended the front by 3″ – 6″, probably because they’ve dropped this body onto a longer frame (70’s cj-5 maybe?).
“great willys on or off road v-8 runs excellent new carb, clutch, starter, tow bar, salvage title call mike 310-722-8770”
The image is small, so it’s hard to tell much. There seems to be a slightly funky angle to that passenger fender near the step.
“Classic Willys Jeep Rare. 6 Cyl. 4 speed. full canvas top, 6 pt. roll cage. wipers, turn signals, tow bar, locking hubs, steering stabilizer, bucket seats, 31″ knobby tires on white spoke wheels with spare, Edelbrock manifold, elec. ignition, high output alternator, Headers, Dual Mufflers-exhaust pipes to tail, high volume/low pressure oil pump/external oil cooler, all gages. Garaged. No rust, Great shape. $5200.00 OBO”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1700.
I suspect underneath that diamond plating (I think it is diamond plating) is some wear & tear or rust. Otherwise, it’s a running CJ-3B that looks pretty good for only $1700.
“62 willys V6 3 sd alot of extras trans and case new shocks rancho lift.
“I purchased this Jeep out of a collection years ago. The first few summers I drove it back and forth to work. Top off, and windsheild frame down !!! The Jeep was restored in 1997. 11 years now. It was a Nebraska Jeep.. The motor and driveline was rebuilt. Axles and brakes gone thru. New brake lines. New exhaust. The list goes on and on. seats were recovered, new top, Wheels powdercoated, New gauges and switchs. The jeep has a nice new style fuse box with new wiring from front to rear. One receipt I have from the restoration totals $3,800.00 alone ….”
