Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. I’m not sure what it would take to bring this into the U.S. and it seems pretty high priced for a non-runner, but it looks complete and raw. Interestingly, it appears to have Cali black plates, so not sure what it’s doing down there. Check out the email addy … lol

This jeep still has a few FORD parts but has been rebuilt/civilianized with parts from other models of jeeps or non-military vehicles. The jeep runs well and includes the following items. -350 Chevrolet V8 -4 bbl Holley carburetor (new) -3-speed manual transmission plus Warn overdrive -Warn 8,000 lb winch with power-out or free-spool out -Transfer case with 2H, 4H, 2L and 4L selection -5.38 front and rear end gear ratio -Model 44 full-floating rear axle -11 inch drum brakes -Double reservoir master brake cylinder -15×8 Chromed steel wheels (including spare) -Electric windshield wipers -Power steering -Tilt steering column -High-back bucket seats -Matching Stewart Warner gauges -Stainless steel dash panel -Full soft top -Sun top with half doors -Heater ….. (Sept 19, 2009) “Ford GPW, tub off restoration to motor pool specs. I’ve had this jeep for three years and have driven it very little. Date of delivery is Nov. 30, 1942. I have spent a lot of time and money on it but I’m getting too old and just don’t have that much time for it. I’m asking $18,000 OBO. I don’t know how to post pictures so if interested you can come by and see it, email me with questions, or call me and ask questions. It is in lusterless O.D. and Marine Corps markings. It has five combat rims and Ford marked military tires.”

FOR SALE: 1944 WIllys MB Runs and drives. GPW engine, T90 Transmission and Transfercase all work. Brakes are new. Lights work, Speedo, Amp gauge (12v) and Temp gauge work. Has 4 Combat rims and tires, also has sparetire and mount. Bumperettes, Pintle, Gas can and holder, Shovel and Axe and Canvas Summer top. Front seats with new canvas cushions. Body has minimal rust problems (hat channel areas). This Jeep is in “motorpool” condition, parade ready. Not 100 % correct but Close!. Needs detailing to make all original. Given the crossmember on this jeep, it looks like it’s an MB. I’m not sure what’s salvageable from this jeep.

It looks like this was an old school trail jeep that someone was modifying into a rock crawler.

“This model is actually a Ford. Has a F head motor (not original) 4 cylinder, 3 speed transmission, PTO Wench. The title is clean, and the jeep runs . **SOLD** Was listed for $500
“No title, not presently running. Motor turns over with starter. Ran good and 4 wheel drive worked about 8 years ago. Brakes weren’t working at that time. I sold it and it sat around since then. I got it back and tried to start it but was unsuccessful. It no longer has a rear drive line or air cleaner. If you have either of those parts you’d like to sell, let’s talk. Hope to add pictures to ad tomorrow.

I found a website called 1943MB.com the other day and thought that it had some useful information. I didn’t realize it until now, but there’s a list of similar sites. While they look similar, they appear to have at least some different information (I didn’t investigate too closely). For example, the 1941MB.com site has a link to a slat grille rebuild.

I’m not a big fan of the bumpers, but everything else looks good on the GPW.

UPDATE: Price dropped to $750
This has a nice rollcage, and HEI distributor, v6 headers, and possibly a one wire alternator with the V-6. This might be a decent deal, especially if you have another tranny around.

Kind of a funky paint job, but it would probably clean up well.

During WWII Willys-Overland Co. could not produce enough jeeps to meet the war demand, thus Ford starting producing jeeps in the exact image of the Willys model so that the parts were interchangeable. Sense limited production were produced these jeeps are a rare find. The jeep has been garaged and in our family for over 20 years. For those collectors out there this jeep can easily be restored to its original glory. I believe the seats and rollbar and rear bumpre are the only changes made. It’s safe to say that you won’t see many rock crawlers with a slat grille. The louvered hood is unusual as well.

The title of the add suggested it was a GPW, but given the willys tub, I’d call it a mix.
