“1941 Jeep needs some motor parts to run like fuel line and radiator hose. It was in World War 2. Body is in good condition. 3 speed.”

1942 GPW & 1946 CJ-2A Cherokee, NC eBay
Here’s an interesting pile of parts out of Cherokee, NC.
“A great project for you flat fender Jeep fans. This is a 1942 Ford built GPW Jeep basket case with many many parts. There are basically two Jeeps here, the ’42 is a genuine WWII era model complete with the built in ammo storage cans in the back, the flip up headlights and the Browning machine gun mounting plate built into the frame. The other is a 1946 civilian jeep. These represent 10+ years of accumulating the parts and pieces to build a WWII jeep that I never got around to doing. ”
1942 GPW Reedsport, Or **STATUS UNKNOWN**
I’m not sure if there are any ’42 parts left on this jeep.

Hand Crank Heater 796-A by Stewart Warner
UPDATE: Here’s a post of a Ypsilanti Machine and Tool Company Hand Crank Heater
UPDATE: I’ve posted pics of Dennis’ hand crank heater here. Here’s another from Nathalie.
UPDATE: Here’s a video of a Stewart Warner Heater in action.
ORIGINAL POST: I was at Josh’s when I spotted an odd device I didn’t recognize. When I asked what it was used for, he explained it and then offered to send images of similar heaters along with a couple brochure images. Cool stuff!
Pics of actual heaters on full post page ….

1942 MB/GPW Scotts Valley, Ca $4300
Interestingly, the body appears to be a MB/GPW, but the driver side cutouts are missing. So, I suspect there’s been some body work done at some point.
“85% RESTORED RUNNING WITH V6 AND 1-1/2 DINA TRANS AN TRANSFER CASE”
1942 MB Burlington, WA **SOLD**
This MB comes with a brand new body. The rest of the parts appear to be a bit rougher.
“Project jeep includes rolling frame, original 4 cylinder engine, extra front end. Engine ran when parked. This is a project! Please, serious buyers only. We are not willing to trade.”
1942 MB/GPW Francis, Ut $5500
The grille and other parts might be older, but the body looks like it is newer. Note the tailgate in the rear and the gas inlet on the driver’s side, suggesting this is more likely a CJ-2A body or later.
“World War II Era Willys Jeep, 14,000 miles, Flathead 4 cylinder engine, 4 X 4 works great, Tires in good shape, Runs Great goes about 50 miles an hour, wouldn’t take much to get it to its original condition, Chris (435)659-0292”
1942 MB Parts Portland, Or $400
I suspect these are more likely MB than GPW parts, but the seller doesn’t indicate which.
“’42 Willys engine block, Flywheel, clutch and bell housing, $100. [no head]
’42 Willys 3-speed transmission and 2-speed transfer case, $250. [works fine]

1944 GPW Las Vegas, NV **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** was $17,000.
“1944 Ford GPW Military Jeep. Here is an immaculately restored World War II military version of the Ford built GPW, commonly called a Jeep. This vehicle is restored just as it was when new, and is correct in all details of configuration except for upgraded 12 volt electrical circuitry to make it more reliable. This incredible time capsule has two piece combat rims, optional axe and shovel, left and right side restraints, auxiliary 5 gallon Jerry can, aft mounted spare tire and front mounted pintle hook.”
1943 MB Albuquerque, NM $1000
This jeep has got one of the more unique hoods I’ve ever seen, a bump with a half cylinder. From the pics, the body doesn’t look too bad. The seller doesn’t indicate whether this is a MB or GPW.
“43 willys flat fender. Has sat for around five years. Ran good when parked, may need a little to get going again. Do have original wheels and tires to go with as well. $1000 firm or may trade for nicer firearm”
1947 CJ-2A/MB/GPW (2 Jeeps) Kemp, Tx $3500
The ad says 1947, but the body in the pics looks like an MB or GPW. Apparently there are two jeeps and extra parts.
“2 Jeeps (military) great for hunting or restoration project, one running and the other used for parts. Also extra parts – grill, fenders, 2 extra blocks. Asking $3500 but can be flexible. Call 903-498-7089 for more information.”
1944 MB/GPW (?) Body Clovis, Ca $700
I can’t say for certain, but the year would indicate this is a MB or GPW body and parts. No condition noted and no pics included. It’s been available since at least Nov 24th.
“1944 Willy’s body for sale. Body, fenders, and hood. $700.00 or best offer. Call 346-1650.”
1943 GPW Graham, Wa **SOLD**
“I am selling a 1942 GPW. It has a bikini top a hard top with full doors and half doors. It has 538 gears and has a dana 44 rear with limited slip. It is sitting on 33 in BFG mud terrains and has plenty of grip. Custom suspension that makes this jeep articulate like a mofo. Wrangler 4 inch lift springs with a swing shackle reversal. It also has a 6000lb wench that works great. The original L134 flat head engine still runs like a champ and with the gearing has no trouble climbing plus it is good on gas. Runs great and ready to wheel. The bottom right image is before I painted the jeep grey. There are many extras like tow bar and extra fenders.”
1945 GPW Bellingham, Wa $2850
What kind of top is that? If the body is in reasonable condition, not a bad price for a running GPW.
“Runs great and is street legal. Perfect for military restoration or drive around town. Stan 888-676-1970 8-5. 360-592-5139 after 5”
1944 MB Fremont, Ca $3000
This might be a ’44 or a ’45. It’s definitely a project. Lots of parts of pieces which the seller lists on the Craigslist Ad.
“I bought a ’44 or ’45 MB years ago with the intention of using it for a hunting rig. What I bought was rough, to say the least. Upon tearing into it I discovered a lot of wonderful parts. Appreciating history, I decided to do as much restoration as I could without going overboard. I acquired a lot of needed parts and slowly began the process. Well, many years later it’s going nowhere and I don’t have a hunting rig. I’d like to swap it for a license worthy and smog test exempt (CA) jeep that I can take hunting and occasionally to the grocery store….”
1942 MB Holden, Mo eBay
This MB looks like a play jeep. It does not appear to be licensed. I wonder if the stock axles were upgraded. I’d think that power and those tires would be hard on stock MB axles.
“I’VE OWNED LOTS OF JEEPS IN THE PAST, BUT THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE IN THE PAST I’VE TURNED DOWN NUMEROUS OFFERS TO SELL IT BUT COULD NOT PART WITH IT. WILLY HAS A 283 CHEVY V-8 RUNS SMOOTH, QUIET,AND COOL. IT HAS HEADERS AND GLASS PACKS AND SOUNDS LIKE A V-8 SHOULD. IT HAS A 350 TURBO TRANSMISSION WHICH HAS BEEN REBUILT AND IS A STOCK TRANNY. THE REST OF THE DRIVE TRAIN IS STOCK I THINK? WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE 4X4 LOCK OUT HUBS. FOR ADDED DRIVE ABILITY I’VE ADDED A STEERING BOX WITH A GM POWER STEERING PUMP WHICH MADE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE IN MANEUVERING THE 31 X15 GOODYEAR TERRA TIRES ON 14 INCH WIDE STEEL RIMS.”
GPW Bellhousing Horseshoe Bend, Id $50
This is right over the hill from me. I really don’t know how rare these are, but I could run and pick it up if someone’s interested in it.
“Hard to find single rib Willys bell housing for 4 Cylinder L-Head (CJ2A, MB, GPW Jeep). I removed this from my GPW. It’s in good shape with no cracks. It will bolt up to a T90 and T84 transmission. It’s for the CJ2A jeep or early flat fenders. It includes the original inspection cover. Somebody drilled another drain hole in the bottom (see photo).”
1942 GPW Parts Portland, Or
This seller is parting out a 1942 GPW frame for $50 (though the pictures show the axles, they are no longer there). Separately, he’s also selling the engine $150 and the tranny/tc $250. If you are collecting GPW parts, this might be worth checking out. It sounds the seller is looking to get this out of the drive way.
The Frame Ad:
“1942 Willys GPW frame for sale. Need to sell to get it out of my yard. Would rather have it go to a jeep lover than the scrap guy. $50 bucks and it is all yours. The engine, transmission and axles are NOT included just the frame (sorry old pictures they are not attached now). Get back to me to set up a time to see it.”
The Engine Ad:
“Engine block from 1942 Ford GPW with the bell housing all original and ready to sell at $150. It needs a Willys jeep lover to work on it but will be worth it. Come by and take a look.”
The Tranny/TC Ad:
“Willys 1942 GPW transmission shifts smoothly all original, this needs a good home not my garage. Come on by and take a look then take it home. $250 and it is yours. Original Willy’s rebuilt ones cost $750 and up, the case alone is $200 for a reproduction one. Get back to me to set up a time to see it.”
1942 GPW Colorado Springs, CO $2490
This is a running GPW for under $2500 that appears to be in good shape. I haven’t seen too many of these at this price.
“1942 Willys Jeep – Ford built, hinged headlites, Brakes work, engine & driveline orig., driven frequently, Folding top with doors, extra tranny, tires new. ph 432-6873”
1943 GPW Riddle, Or — $3500
UPDATE: The price has been reduced to $3500
Obviously, there’s been a few updates, and it sounds like good ones, to this jeep. Most interesting to me is the chain driven clutch. I’m not sure what the seller means by that.
“1943 flatfender jeep produced by ford for the war.. Not all original so if thats what your looking for this isnt it. But if you want a good driving fun flatfender this is the rig. Its got a buick 225 v6 that was rebuilt 4,xxx miles ago, saginaw power steering, swapped in dana 30 front end with disk brakes and warn hubs, rancho springs and shocks, t-14 3 speed full synchro tansmission with a warn overdrive, full k line soft top in decent shape, chain driven clutch makes it easier to engage, Good body with minimal rust, larger gastank, electic fuel pump with shut off switch, spare tire carrier, ….. Contact me at cpap22@hotmail.com or call Chase at 541-817-2101”
1944 GPW Granite Falls, Wa $2500
This appears to be a very restorable GPW. If you are serious about getting a GPW, this one is worth a look.
“This is an original Ford GPW WWII jeep from 1944. It is a pretty rough project but does have a lot going for it.
original Ford engine not running but not seized. Engine and frame numbers match!! (as they should on ford jeeps). Original gearbox and transfer case. 3 combat rims. Call for more details if interested. Jason (360)691-7740”
1942 GPW Sacramento, Ca $3000
This GPW looks like it is in very good shape. I’m surprised it isn’t gone priced at $3000. The back seems like it sits a little high? No description at all.
“Please leave a Email. I will get Back to you as soon as I can. Thanks For Looking…”
1942 MB Smith River, Ca eBay
This jeep is located on the Oregon/Cali border near highway 101, so the drive alone is worth getting the jeep. This doesn't look in too bad of shape. The seller describes the body as fair to poor, but I've seen many worse bodies than this one.
"Body: Fair to poor condition, areas of rust.Engine: Has not run in 5 years.Tires: 5 in good condition.Other: Fenders & gas tank in good condition. Many usable parts if full restoration is not your thing.Shipping/Transportation will be the buyers responsibilityI'm located in California two miles south of the Oregon border on highway 101. I can be reached at (707)487-5808"
1951 CJ-3A Oceanside, Ca eBay
The seller states $12000 was spent on the restoration of this CJ-3A and that it will now go easily down Cali highways at 80mph. My response would be, for starters, how does the hood stay down at 80mph, because there is only a hood latch on the passenger side fender (none on driver side) and no latch receptacles on the hood. There's no mention of the MB body on this CJ-3A. The rear lights are missing on the driver's side. Rather than a CJ-3A, the grille appears to be a slat grille in the front (probably the most valuable part of this jeep). Caveat Emptor.
"4 wheel disk brakes, rancho suspension, 10,000 lb warn winch, power steering, power brakes, newer Ford 250 6 cylinder motor, new tires, new wheels, ground up restoration, new interior. This old jeep has been lovingly professionally restored to better than new condition. I had power disk brakes, power steering, Ford 250 motor, and rancho suspension added recently. I also had the interior completely redone for $2200 with commercial grade heavy duty vinyl and super heavy duty rubber on the floors. I also had the jeep painted with a $5500 base coat clear coat paint job which looks fantastic. There's over $12,000 in restoration and now I've decided to sell it…."
