Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (02/19/2020) This may have some late model Free-Lock hubs. I can’t tell for sure. It’s got a CJ-3A windshields and hood. The fuel inlet is not original. This might have a reproduction tub?

“We did complete “frame off” restoration a few years back and less than 200 miles since,mainly to car shows. Actually won “best in class” at one. Converted to 12 volt but all original other wise. We do still have the 24 volt generator if desired.”
Chas has some nice M-38 parts for sale on eBay, some of which are shown below. So far, all parts start at .99 with no reserve. He’ll be selling additional hard-to-ship parts locally as well, such as a hardtop.

Runs great, 24v, new carburetor, new points less than 500 miles ago, original canvas enclosure with removable doors, new batteries, jerry can, spare tire, turn signals, Gama Goat taillight lenses installed, rebuilt transfer case, pioneer tools, manuals. Great start for someone to drive as-is or fully restore. Trailer in good original condition, some surface rust but no rust-thru’s, great candidate for complete restoration, or use as-is. “1951 Willys M38 Jeep. Off frame restoration. Frame media cleaned, primed and painted. Front and rear differentials rebuilt using new bearings and seals. Transmission and transfer case rebuilt also. Work performed by Sumpter County transmission in Leesburg. Engine dismantled, block boiled out and cylinders re sleeved. Engine reassembled using all new parts. Work performed by Dave Latarte Machine Shop, Fruitland Park. Painting done by Johnny’s Hot Rod Leesburg. New wiring harness, brake lines, wheel cylinders and brake shoes. New fuel lines.
Asking $20,000 or will consider trade for a late model Trike or Pularis UTV.”

“1952 model M38. Recent rebuild on 134 engine. This was a Marine Jeep with a California delivery date of 1951.
Clean title with a clean body tub. Stored inside. Rear axel assembly has been converted to warn hubs for flat towing.
Converted to 12 volt system. Nice winch up front with tow bar and heavy chain.

Seller has 2 M-38s and 3 CJ-2As for sale. The pics are upside down in the post.

#1- 49 cj2a, just rebuilt engine, body in good shape ( minor rust in tool compartment and passenger floor. New gas tank, good tires and seats. Drivers good,4 wheel works great. Needs the following, no brakes ( need complete rebuild, carburetor work (I think just break down and cleaning). Has flat spot. Can’t find title bill of sale only. Great fun little jeep. $ 4550.00.
#2- 1950 M-38 Complete less seats, was running when parked (4 years ago). Has original engine converted to 12 volt. ( have most of 24 volt parts)
Drive train complete. Have title and will make bill of sale. M38’S are getting hard to find , won’t last long . Asking $ 3500.00
#3 – 50 m38, all parts are there. Started to disassemble to restore but lost interest. Was running when parked , no windshield or seats. Asking $2550
#4 CJ2A all part are there, has been setting for many years. Has a aluminium top. Needs a lot of work or a great parts jeep, $ 1100.00 bill of sale only. Still trying to find title.

This has an M-38 body. No description provided. The “WILLYS” branding on the hood is incorrectly placed. I’d have to guess that the hood is also from an M-38.
