This looks pretty nice based on this one pic. The hood looks unusual with the higher than normal ‘scoop’ in the middle.

I can’t tell what’s left to do, but it’s got some good components.
“This is a 1954 Willy’s M38A1. It has a Buick V6 bolted to a Turbo 400 that in turn bolts to a Dana 300 transfer case. The V6 has Hedman headers and HEI ignition set up. This Jeep also has a brand new Hurst shifter set up. It sits on BFG 33-12.50/15 all terrain tires, all tires are in good shape. The front bumper is custom and has a built in tow bar, whoever buys it will be able to tow it away. This was a project that has stalled out. I don’t have room for it, nor the time to finish it. There is work that needs to be finished for it to run. This Jeep will make a good rock crawler platform”

“1953 Willys Jeep M38A1. Includes: Rubicon rack, Warn hubs, Superlift springs and shocks, Hi-Lift jack, after-market seats, Best top, tow bar and tow lights, Tera Flex revolver shackles, 31 10.50.15 tires – 90% tread, 4 cylinder 24 volt system. Runs good. $2800 OBO. Perfect hunting rig.”
Here’s a nice M-38A1.
“This is a Collectors 1952 Willys Jeep M38A1 with a yellow paint job that is a year old.
The seats were done year ago in camouflage red. Jeep has a 231 Buick V6 motor that is yellow to match paint and was installed about year ago. Power Steering was also added, plus the steering wheel has tilt. Jeep runs great and has been garaged every night at the Dealership. New BF Goodrich Tires and black rims, Paint and Interior are in Great Condition. Everything has been replaced and redone from Brakes, Paint, Interior, Exhaust. There has been lots of Nuts and Bolts that have been re chromed. The 4×4 works great with the 3 speed shifter with added overdrive lever. The Overdrive lever allows the Jeep to go on the Highway and will easy hit 75+ mph. Transmission is original on the Jeep, also a new wiring Kit was installed. Brand new Top is included with the Jeep. The paint job appears unusual, but the drive train has been rebuilt.

“Comes with many extras: various service manuals still in plastic, original rims (including spare) plus extra set of rims, frame for third seat, custom center console, original seat frames, original power converter. Engine runs well. New water pump, belts, crank-pulley, wheel cylinders, window frame water seal, body mounts plus hardware. Drive-train and 4WD fully functional. Served as a daily driver and kept in the garage. Original owner was General Spencer who brought it back from North Korea.”
This might be a good find. This runs with the help of some starting fluid. It is still 24 volt. It probably doesn’t have a title.

(11/30/09) “Nice ’54 Willys Jeep for sale or trade for a Wrangler that is in good, reliable running condition and that will pass inspection. Beautiful Willys waiting to be restored. Awesome project. No other like this with the hard top, plow and wench. 12V with heat! Secret compartment included, too. Hate to part with her, but situations have changed and I won’t be able to give her the TLC she needs, like floor pans and brakes.”

It includes an Overdrive. This looks like a good price for it.

Thanks to a reader named Brett for pointing out this jeep. The front part of the jeep appears to be a M-38, though the year is off. On the other hand, the rear body on this jeep looks suspiciously CJ-5ish. I’d like to see some close up pics to see how the front and rear of the body has been merged. Perhaps it is a M-38 and 1954 M-38A1?
