The top on this MB is unusual.  Is that a custom or aftermarket top?  I can’t say for sure this is an MB, it’s just my guess.

This jeep is located on the Oregon/Cali border near highway 101, so the drive alone is worth getting the jeep.  This doesn't look in too bad of shape.  The seller describes the body as fair to poor, but I've seen many worse bodies than this one.

"Body: Fair to poor condition, areas of rust.Engine: Has not run in 5 years.Tires: 5 in good condition.Other: Fenders & gas tank in good condition. Many usable parts if full restoration is not your thing.Shipping/Transportation will be the buyers responsibilityI'm located in California two miles south of the Oregon border on highway 101. I can be reached at (707)487-5808"

1951 CJ-3A Oceanside, Ca eBay

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A, GPW (Ford MB), MB This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

The seller states $12000 was spent on the restoration of this CJ-3A and that it will now go easily down Cali highways at 80mph. My response would be, for starters, how does the hood stay down at 80mph, because there is only a hood latch on the passenger side fender (none on driver side) and no latch receptacles on the hood.  There's no mention of the MB body on this CJ-3A. The rear lights are missing on the driver's side.  Rather than a CJ-3A, the grille appears to be a slat grille in the front (probably the most valuable part of this jeep).  Caveat Emptor.

"4 wheel disk brakes, rancho suspension, 10,000 lb warn winch, power steering, power brakes, newer Ford 250 6 cylinder motor, new tires, new wheels, ground up restoration, new interior.  This old jeep has been lovingly professionally restored to better than new condition.  I had power disk brakes, power steering, Ford 250 motor, and rancho suspension added recently.  I also had the interior completely redone for $2200 with commercial grade heavy duty vinyl and super heavy duty rubber on the floors.  I also had the jeep painted with a $5500 base coat clear coat paint job which looks fantastic.  There's over $12,000 in restoration and now I've decided to sell it…."

Ok, I like the big gun.  Hard to find jeeps with big guns in them anymore.  I know it says replica, but maybe it actually shoots?

"1945 Willys MB.  This army jeep is ready for parades, shows, or just driving around. Comes with everything as shown, including .50 cal replica. With the exception of a later hood and T-90 transmission, this is a very complete (original) MB. The steering is tight, brakes are good, engine runs fine, and the tires are three years old. The four wheel drive is fully operational."

Year? CJ-3A Granite Falls, Wa $2800

• CATEGORIES: MB • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

The seller claims this is a 1941 Willys, but I don’t see much MB left in this jeep.  The rust looks more serious than suggested by the seller.  This jeep sports a Studebaker flathead 6, which I know nothing about, but sounds fun.

“Old military jeep. Runs, brakes may need adjusting from sitting. Body has some typical rust but nothing that can’t be fixed. Has Studabaker Champion flathead 6, T84J trans. Dash tags and clear title. Tag dated 12/31/41. This comes with lots of spare parts. Has an extra hood, fenders, grill, real nice tip down windshield, half cab with doors, roll bar, radiator, extra rims, new canvas top, spare Studabaker parts ( distributor, starter, etc )and a spare T-90 trans…”

I wandered across this website in 2008 that showcases old woodies.  There’s a jeep section with a variety of woodies. The woodie at the bottom is made from an old MB/GPW.

“A French coachbuilder’s modification of the American Jeep into a wood-bodied fire fighting squad truck is similar to the work of Duriez.”

This site contains information and a variety of pics about a 1944 MB Build.  It's worth a look.

"Here it is a small collection of the finished jeep throughout the summer of 2003. I logged over 2200 miles in "Phoebe" since her restoration was completed this early spring. I hope that everyone enjoys these pictures as much I do, I had a blast taking them. I had a great time and will forever remember this experience, its kinda like having a child I guess. I have one on the way so i will find out shortly what that is like. Everyone says its like owning a jeep, when you first get your jeep home everything is ah's and oo's. After a while it starts to bear down on you…. you get the picture. Enjoy the pictures and if you have any questions please feel free to email me."

1945 MB Palermo, Ca $18000

• CATEGORIES: MB This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

The seller of this jeep wants $18000, though the jeep is not completed yet.  Whether you agree with the price, you'll probably enjoy looking through the 40+pics of the jeep and its various parts.

"This is a 1945 MB, WWII military jeep, that has been meticulously restored over the last 15 years. It is 85-90% finished, with boxes and boxes of parts, and everything needed to complete it. The parts used have been predominately NOS (New-Old-Stock: vintage parts still in the boxes), as when the project was begun there was still a supply of original vintage parts, and if a person was patient and willing to pay – could seek them out. This jeep is solid, and great care was even used to preserve all of the original spot welds, which as this is a military vehicle built for combat – it has plenty, and wears them proudly!"

“Wedding and new home forces sale of my toy. This jeep is in very good condition. I recently put a 4″ lift and brand new 33×13.5 Super Swampers on it. It has a Ford straight six in it with a 3spd and 538 gears so it gets along well. I believe the engine is a 200 out of an early 60’s Ford. Runs, drives, and has collector vehicle license plate so it never needs license/tabs. Title in hand. I will try to post some pictures soon, but I am hoping someone will save me the trouble. Joe”

Builds — 1943 MB

• CATEGORIES: Features, MB This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Andrew McGraw (and friends) gave new life to a beat up 1943 MB (to the right is an 'after' pic).  The only before and after pics are of the engine compartment, but the differences in those two pics is pretty dramatic.

"The Willys MB project was a feat in that it was completed in about 2 months. Having been in my friend’s family for many years, they were looking to do a restoration/upgrade on it.

It had undergone so many repairs and body modifications over the years. That fact, combined with the cost and relative impracticality of a full authentic restoration led to the decision to rebuild and modify. If I were in charge of the finances, I would have at least upgraded the powertrain/drivetrain to that of a YJ, at the minimum. A fuel injected 5-speed MB would be awesome. However, I wasn’t in charge of the finances or major decisions…."

2 Jeeps in Minden, NV **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A, MB This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** was $3500

These two jeeps have been for sale for a few months, though they haven’t been listed in a while.  Both jeeps have full cages.  One jeep comes with a winch.  Both bodies appear in at least decent shape.  Unfortunately, Minden is a bit out of the way.  Given the price of gas, I doubt too many people are going to drag their haulers down to Minden unless the price drops further.”

Builds – 1942 GPW

• CATEGORIES: Builds, MB This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This 1942 GPW has been extensively rebuilt into a rock climber.  No hack job here as the builder documents his efforts through a series of words and pictures.  The builder writes that the jeep was featured in the December 2006 issue of 4 Wheel Drive & Sport Utility Magazine; however, I couldn't locate the article nor the builder's name.

"I stripped the Jeep down to the bare frame and started work. The frame was a stock GPW frame that had some previous 'fixes' done to it and it had a few cracks. I completely boxed and strapped the top and bottom of the frame. If I were to do it again I would definitely make my own frame from scratch using 2"x4" box tube. To strap the frame I used 2"x1/4" steel and stitch welded it along the length of the frame. I made cardboard templates of the sections to be boxed and then cut them out of some plate steel."

Learn more about the details of this rebuild here. He also details how he turned a Pro Tools 105 HD bender into a hydraulic bender.

1945 MB Los Angeles, eBay — the last MB produced? (link now works)

• CATEGORIES: MB This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  Oops, that was programmer (and QA control) error .. now check out the pics — thanks Mitch! Note the bid price, already at $15k.

With a starting bid of $10k, this is one restored jeep whose price might just rise beyond the $10k bid.  The seller makes a strong argument that this was the VERY LAST WWII jeep to be made. It comes equipped with all kinds of extras and its pictures are worth browsing.

"Let me start by saying that this is the finest World War Two Jeep on the planet!!This 1945 Willys jeep is the last know jeep delivered in World War Two,if you look at the picture of the original dash plaque it is dated 8/20/1945.This is the last day of delivery and the last jeep KNOWN built that day!!!!So lets get past the early historic aspect of this jeep and lets look a little more at its more recent history. This Jeep belonged to Hillcrest Cadillac in Beverly Hills…."

Anyone know what the -4 designation means on the MB?  I'm thinking $3500 is way outside the ball park unless there's something I'm missing.

Early MB Mods — The SAS

• CATEGORIES: Features, MB, Website This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

From day 1, adapting the jeep was a necessary part of using or owning one.  In my mind, this is one of the attributes of jeeps that differentiate them from most other vehicles, even from other 4x4s.  Andy Carter highlights early desert modifications in this story with pictures from jeeps used in Africa by the British Special Air Service (SAS) during WWII.  Check out the grille in the picture on the right.  If you read through the site, you'll note that this was a modification done to many of the jeeps, not just this one. They look like a boxer who has been through a few rounds!

Here's an excerpt from the website about SAS Jeeps:

"The jeeps were stripped of all non-essential parts including the windscreen, most of the radiator grille bars and even sometimes the front bumper to increase the effective load carrying capacity of the vehicle. Thus the large amount of fuel and water needed for fast long-range raids could be carried avoiding the need for slower support vehicles. A water condensing unit was fitted to the front to reduce loss from the radiator which would otherwise have had to be topped up from the limited drinking water supplies…"

1944 MB Bend, OR **SOLD**

Has an f-head.

1944-mb-bend-or91 1944-mb-bend-or92 1944-mb-bend-or93 1944-mb-bend-or94

“Authentic 76 year old WWII Jeep. This has been in my family for 35 years. My brother bought it in a small town in Colorado in ’85 and used it for hunting and back country access. I bought it from him about 2000 and trailered it to CA. where I started a rebuild. I have stacks of receipts. I removed both axles and rebuilt them along with the steering, brakes, radiator, starter, new carb., etc. It has a later model F-head motor as opposed to the original flat head (+15hp), which was a common conversion. The MB is the military model and the later models where called CJs for civilian jeep. It has been set up for trail/hunting use with a (easily removed) custom roll bar with shoulder belts and a nice Bestop. It is titled in Oregon and has a PERMANENT historical vehicle registration. I towed it to Bend and intended to restore it to original OD green and paint a star on the hood, but the project stalled as they sometimes do.”
