Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “These 47 Sedan Deliverys are hard to find, especially in this condition. This vehicle is an older hot rod that has a 1964 Chevrolet 327 c.i. 4bbl. with a Turbo 350 transmission and B&M shifter. This power feeds a 57 Chevrolet 3:56 positraction rear end. This panel has power steering and power disk brakes on front from a 72-76 Camero. Has Steward Warner gauges and tach, updated upholstery and good tires. Tires are 14” front and 15″rear with beauty rims and baby moon caps. It still has the planar front suspension wih the transverse leaf spring and needs new shocks, which are redily available. This is an older hot rod that has many updates incorporated into the running of this vehicle. The paint shows a little wear and it needs a new passengers side windshield and door window as seen in the pictures. The side windows have been updated to one piece with the removal of the stationary vent windows. This vehicle is licensed until May of 2013 and is comletely road worthy. Drive it while you refresh the cosmetics and enjoy the “hot summer nights”. Asking $6800 but open to offers. No trades and I have plenty of projects. Call Hap at (559) 960-6771. The price on this looks good. I had to do a double take on the “dashboard is in great condition”, because I spotted the wooden instrument panel. I think what Marty means is the dash is in very good shape, but this needs a new gauge panel to look correct.

“Has some rust but not too bad for as old as it is. It would have been dust if it spent its life in Virginia. Could use a new tailgate because of rust. It has been in Texas since 1980 and california before that. Engine is a Chevy 350 and was a reman installed a few years ago. Has a Ford rear. Whats it need? A battery, rear wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and bled. Runs real strong, just wont stop. Hasn’t been driven much in years. Make an offer.”

I like reading books about the history of odd subjects. Whether gum, beer , milk or salt, if it is a history about something food related, I want to read it. A few years ago I read a fun little book about the history of popcorn called Popped Culture: A Social History of Popcorn in America by Andrew Smith. I was surprised to learn how many different kinds of popcorn there are, having grown up on the basic non-branded yellow variety. So, when I spotted this article about popcorn trailers that were pulled by Willys Wagons, I thought it was interesting. Below you can see the trailers built by Clyde Gould, see one of two wagons that pulled them, and learn about his attempt to create a popcorn business. Unfortunately, the article doesn’t indicate how successful he was or what happened to the trailers.

“This is a real woody with the wood recently installed and done in several coats of finish on hemlock..any other so called “woodies” you see will be painted and look like crap..beautiful blue paint with newer back floor wood restored in bed. Interior upholstered and repainted… 6 cylinder motor is very strong and transmission is excellent as well as all window and door rubber and tires..This very sought after 1952 willys can be driven anywhere. Other rare features are the barn doors on the back and all glass is perfect..selling several cars from my estate so watch craigs list for others”

This is an old Air Force Wagon that, according to the seller, was modified with a V8 by the Air Force. It’s a neat bit of history. Apparently Mercury supplied motors for an unknown number of swaps into wagons.
“This is a pretty rare super solid Willys Wagon. She came from an Air Force base in Wyoming and was used as a crash tender. The original engine was not fast enough for the military so a Mercury flathead V8 was adapted quite nicely to the original drivetrain. I couldn’t tell you you when she was last in service but I know this vehicle was stored in a hanger for quite some time. The body is extremely solid! This is an easy retoration. She runs great and drives straight. I have spent years collecting parts for this beauty and everything goes with her. Way too much to list, but my asking price hardly covers the parts and transportation costs to get her to Syracuse. If you’ve been seriously looking for a Willys Wagon to restore, this is the one. I searched the country to find her. Please don’t ask me to sell the engine separately. The military bought these vehicles with the intention of swapping motors and Mercury provided a limited amount of them and I wouldn’t want to ruin the historic significance of that.”
