UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was $3500

(02/22/2014) This jeep has a ventilating windshield.

“I’m looking to sell or trade my 1960 Willys/Jeep CJ3B. These Jeeps are highly sought after by collectors and 4×4 enthusiasts alike, especially in original condition. I’ve recently had a new exhaust system installed, rebuilt the transmission, purchased a new top, tires, and had the seats reupholstered. It runs and drives great, and shifts through all gears (including 4WD H/L) perfectly. It has rust spots on the body. It has a clear Kansas title, and can be tagged as an antique, which costs around $40 in Kansas.”

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

It appears solid.

1948 Willys CJ-2A for sale. It’s generally in good shape, but isn’t totally original. It starts, runs, drives, and stops. Here are the highlights in no particular order:
– It has a 1978 Ford Pinto engine that runs well
– The entire brake system was replaced about a year ago, and now has a dual reservoir master cylinder
– The transmission is the original 3 speed
– The vehicle’s top speed is 35-40 mph
– There is some rust on the vehicle, but nothing extreme
– The vehicle has a clear title and current registration
Text, call, or email to check it out.”

1951 CJ-3A Basalt, CO **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was $2200.

This is a solid running and driving old Jeep. Body is in good shape. There is some rust repair underneath and the usual dents and dings.(not a show car) Newer F-head engine runs like a champ and no leaks. The seals leak on the tranny and transfer case. This does not effect the drivability, I just found it easier to refill every couple months as to a repair!(I’ve found most Jeeps of this era like to “mark their territory”) Interior has newer seats w/ seatbelts.(could use some seat covers) Has been converted to 12v. I also have the frame and doors for the soft top but NO soft top skin. I have more pictures available and please call with ANY questions. I’ve owned this rig for about a year and am only parting with it because I recently acquired a 1944 MB! Willing to trade for a mid-life crisis! I’m looking for an old muscle car 60’s or 70’s. An ’82-90 Camaro could work too.(no v6’s) Maybe a pop up camper in REAL good shape(no junk) or anything cool and automotive related NO boats I’m not looking to re-assemble a project or pick up a basket case. Call with any offers I can trade up or down with cash or other items(air tools, bang sticks, guy stuff) Mine runs and drives, yours should too! I am willing to do some work and have no delusions of grandeur. Just want to make fair trade.”

1948 CJ-2A Averill Park, NY $1700

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, Parts This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Price dropped to $1700

(02/14/2014) The seller has a variety of parts.

Hi, I’m looking to sell my 1948 Willy’s cj2a jeep project. It is all original and in need of some work. It has all the parts except a battery, I even have metal for the bodywork. It needs body work including floors, assembly, and the frame needs to be fixed in a spot.

I, also have lots of extra parts, a plow and everything to use it, and a set of 1948 license plates.
It doesn’t have a title because it’s so old, but it comes with a bill of sale.

I’m not really in a rush to get rid of it, I don’t really have interest in it anymore and I’d like to get something that has some more power. I am interested in trading for an El Camino, Ranchero, Brat, Rampage, old Dakota, muscle car, or maybe something else let me know, or just cash.

Thursday July 31: Colville to Priest Lake

• CATEGORIES: Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

<– Wed. July 30th Oroville to Colville | North Washington Trip

2014-07-31-colville-priestriver

This map only shows our route from Colville to Priest River, but we drove home late Thursday night.

I stayed up late Wednesday night completing emails and posts, so we stayed in bed until 10AM at Benny’s Colville Inn motel in downtown Colville. The motel was a solid 1 1/2 stars. We had a king bed with slightly uneven box springs. The bottom sheet wasn’t fitted, so it moved easily underneath us. But, the room was quiet, cool, and comparatively cheap. The lobby was unusual, part taxidermy showcase and part firearms museum. The staff was friendly, especially an older female gardner who began to talk to us and wouldn’t stop. I finally had to close the room door, albeit graciously, while she talked until she couldn’t see us anymore. She was a little off . . .

The other oddity we encountered involved the water. When we took our showers, we had the MOST difficult time washing the soap off of us. Either they softened the water too much or there was something else in the water, but neither of us could recall such a difficult time removing soap. Since we’d brought the soap from home, we knew it had to be something in the water (we finally had to use towels to feel clean of the soap).

2014-07-31-colville-bennys

At 11AM we pulled out of the motel, the temperature already in the low 80s. It was going to be hot again. We drove up to Kettle Falls, then turned to drive north toward Canada. Our first stop was at the Roosevelt Reservoir, a large body of water fed by the Columbia River, which winds through much of Washington State until it flows by our home in Pasco a couple miles away. One of the neat aspects of the Roosevelt Reservoir area is that the shorelines remain free of houses, giving the area a remote, peaceful feeling.

2014-07-31-roosevelt-reservoir-columbiariver

Roosevelt Reservoir behind us.

Back on Hwy 25, we stopped at every campground to evaluate them for future camping. Our favorite place was a small no-reservation campground called North Gorge. This campsite would have been perfect had we brought the motorhome. There were no other sites adjacent to it.

1986-Tom_and_Ev-2014-David-and-Ev

In 1986 during a jeep drive around Washington I stopped by to visit my great aunt and uncle, Tom and Ev in Oroville. That’s when I took the top photo. Yesterday, I decided to recreate the photo. Since Tom has since passed, I stood in for him.

As I remembered from my previous visit to Oroville in 1986, my great aunt Ev was a gracious host and great cook. We awoke at eight O-clock on Wednesday morning to find a table set with fresh fruit and home made granola. She also whipped up some eggs and bacon for us. Good stuff!

2014-07-30-oroville-breakfast

After breakfast we toured the apple orchards that they farmed for many years before selling them. Naturally, if she needs some fresh fruit during the summer, she doesn’t have to go far out her backdoor to find some!

2014-07-30-oroville5

At 90yo, she still can farm a mean garden! The orchards are behind her garden. In the background stands “Numbers Mountain” where the high schoolers used to paint mark their class years.
