1957 Photo of Jeep Travelers with Nixon on eBay

• CATEGORIES: Features, Old Images This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This photo captures an upcoming adventure by two University of Colorado students who plan to leave Denver and travel south into Central and South America in a CJ-5 they called “Columbus II”. I’ve located the email for Rolf Kjolseth (one of the two travelers) and emailed him to see if we can learn more about their trip. Also, check out Rolf’s amazing documentary street photography here: http://iconicimprints.com

Cheerios Box Goggle Ad with Soldiers in a Jeep on eBay

• CATEGORIES: Advertising & Brochures, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Here’s an unusual ad that must be pretty rare.

“This ad is from a collection where the collector apparently had the ads in a scrapbook and kept them attached with double sided white sticky tape on the reverse (see photo #2 for the worst case scenario example—this ad might be much better–ASK if it’s important to you! ). In some cases, I was able to trim the blank borders and get rid of some or all of the white tape. In the cases where I was not, I covered the white tape with a piece of clear tape to cover the “stickiness”.

These ads look GREAT from the front.

Some are extremely colorful with great graphics. They also may have one or more of the following– edge tears, a small repair with archival tape on the reverse and/or some degree of uneven cutting when removed from newspaper originally.”

1965? CJ-5 Stamford, CT **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ5 • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.

Eric spotted this CJ-5 with a crazy paint job. I’m not certain this has as title. It runs, but has a fuel leak.

“I would like to start with saying that I am not all that familiar with the jeep so I can not give a ton of details, but will give as much as I can (it was taken as part of a law suit, and I can not guarantee accuracy). In general the jeep appears to be in great shape with no apparent rust or dents. We were told the body was replaced a little ways back (I can not confirm it, but from the condition it seems way too good to be original). The paint is in very good shape, but may not appeal to all (with the exception of a troop of clowns). The car runs, but it does have a fuel leak (seems to be a fairly simple fix). I have not driven it since there are no plates or registration (as well as the fuel leak), so I can not comment on the ride. It appears to be the original Buick V6 engine with headers added. There is a plow set up installed, but we do not have the blade. We were unable to locate the VIN, but we believe it is a 65 (can not guarantee the year). Car is being sold as is. Firm at $3500. (no trades or paypal)”

1957? CJ-3A Chubbuck, ID For Trade

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Listed as a ’57, I don’t see anything to suggest it is a DJ-3A.

“1957 willys jeep 4×4. Awesome piece of history. These things were built well. Made to military standards. Motor has been rebuilt and runs great. Trans shifts good. 4×4 hi and low works well. This would be a cool jeep for a swap or restore project or drive it as is.

Interested in a good tig welder. 4×4 rigs. 4×4 four wheelers or anything of real value that interests me. Just ask.”

1942 GPW San Pedro, CA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB) • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $55,000

I thought this looked like a good price, until I realize there were 3 zeros behind the ’55’. The bumper appears incorrect. The seller notes it has been used in films.

“This is a 1942 Ford GPW Military Jeep. Serial #’s on frame reflect the manufacturing date as well as the title. It is in excellent condition and Runs exceptionally. The seats are torn, but can be replaced with after market parts. It has a willy’s 4 cylinder engine that purrs like a kitten. It has the original 3 speed manual transmission and the transfer case (3 granny low gears) works well also. It even has the front wheel engage/disengage shifter. All guages, anti-aircraft lights, gun racks, first aid kit, spare tire, etc, are all still installed and work. The only thing not original are the new 11″ brakes. I swapped the 9″ for the 11″ because this is something that I wanted to drive around town, and the smaller/old style brakes wouldn’t cut it. I still have the original brakes to give to you if you ever want it perfectly restored. This is a one of a kind Vehicle. It has been used in many films also, so there is financial gain if you choose to put it out for time period movies and tv. Email me for questions.”

2 1947 CJ-2As Indian Head, MD $5000

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Still Available.

“Have a few things to sell and would like to let go as a package.
First is the blue 47 Willys. Runs well, 4 wheel drive works, breaks work, re-upholstered front seat s on original frames, later model rear seat. Currently have Jeepster rims on it with good tread but have original rims with 6.50-16 tires. Body had bondo on it and there is fatigue in other places. Enough to work with if you want.
Next is a green 47 Willys that runs and 4 wheel drive works. Engine is worn but doesn’t smoke, breaks work as I had replaced all line and cylinders over the years. Original seat frames front and rear.
Have a spare engine block minus intake/exhaust manifold and other miscellaneous parts.
Last is an Artic Top that needs glass and rubber and door latches. These were used by the military in the Artic as it is Aluminum with foam rubber inside for insulation.
All a good deal for someone interested in working with them.”

It doesn’t run and has no title. The bracket on the fender is unusual.

“This vintage 1948 Willys jeep is a GREAT buy. It does run. My father and I bought it to fix it up and make it a project but we have made different plans and are now wanting to sell it. Does not have a title because it has never been registered. I will provide documentation on how to obtain a title. Does need work on the engine and know very little of the specifics of the vehicle.Has only ever been drove on trails for hunting. Just needs to be restored. Come by and see how you like it! • CATEGORIES: CJ-6 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This is an odd ad. What’s left of the jeep is in Australia.

“Army Jeep stripped and gutted for a production of the Sapphires staged by The Belvoir Theatre Company Sydney.

The wheels have been welded so they dont turn. It has no engine, no real mechanical parts at all, it is basically a shell. Ideal for a long, long term restoration project or a show piece.

Buyer must pick up.  Keep in mind you will need a truck and appropriate lifting equipment, as the wheels do not turn.”
