Sebastian writes, “Here are a few pics that my dad took last Saturday on a trip he did to “Puente Pelaez”. This is in Antioquia. As you can see it is a nice rural area where the Willys fits perfectly.”

Another Collection of Jeep Parts in Alaska
Paul forwarded these pics and information about a military surplus yard that is liquidating. Looks like you’ll need an axe to get some of those trucks out of the woods.
He wrote, “The local military surplus yard (E A Patson Parts and Equipment) is closing after 60 years and everything is for sale. I spent the last three days digging thru various piles of parts searching for items I might need in the future for my Willys and I’ve had an incredible time. Their stock of Jeep parts consist of mainly running gear items but even those have been picked over pretty good. Their supply of body items were sold long ago. What’s left is stuff for Dodge M37’s, some M151 parts and parts for the larger military trucks. I was looking for a new burner can for my Southwind M978 gas heater and I had a selection of over 30 new cans to choose from. These cans were stacked in a pile outdoors between a tree and the damaged cab of a semi. The cans are stainless steel so the years of outdoor storage didn’t harm them in the least.
Lots of parts are stored in an unheated building in 55 gallon drums with the tops cut off and positioned upright. Many of these drums are full of parts (I have now idea what vehicle they’re for) and a second layer of full 55 gallon drums are stacked on top of the first layer of drums. There’s also a partial third layer of drums with parts on top of the second layer….. this place is incredible!”

1953 M-38A1 Mobile, AL **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $12,500.
(09/02/2013) This looks solid.
“I purchased this Jeep in late December of 2012 from a restorer and I immediately had new brakes, including emergency brake, and wheel cylinders, shocks, rebuilt steering box, steering dampener and tie rods installed to make it more road friendly. It had the “wobble of death” when I got it but travels very nicely now. I actually had it up to 45 mph and it did great. I paid $12,600 and put about $2,000 into it. I am selling it because I need the money for other investments and firm on the price. I am not a collector or a restorer so I may not be able to answer all of your question. I have kept it out of the weather and only put about 10 miles on it. The Jeep came painted and stenciled as is and I can’t really tell you much about the color or stencils. It is a 24 volt system and the rear turn signals, taillights, headlights and brake lights work. The windshield wipers do not work but I believe all of the components are there. Tires are about 80-90 % tread. The restorer ensured me that the engine was completely overhauled but needs to have the head re-torqued and the valves readjusted after break-in. Current odometer on restored engine is 182 miles. I also have the Title if needed. I am located in Mobile, Alabama and the best way to reach me is through my email”

Three Reasons to Move to Florida
All I have to say is, brrrrrr.
Jim wrote, “These are three prints from some old negatives which show my Dad driving out to feed hay to the livestock. My brother John is in the back of the jeep and my brother Ed is on the hay loaded in the trailer. The photos were taken at my parents’ farm in Halltown MO in winter of 1969 or 1970. Now you know why John and Ed live in Florida.”
Rapid Transit Lives . . .
Damian wrote to tell me that a favorite drag jeep of mine, Rapid Transit, is racing under a new owner and a new power train. It looks like it uses a Bobcat hood and (likely) body.
He writes, “believe it or not this jeep is still around in the cleves, ohio area and races regularly, but it is now a center seater 2wd and has a small block chevy, i race with the current owner and also do photography.”
You can view Damian’s photos on Facebook. Below is a comparison between the old and new racer.
