Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (07/10/2010) “I have a Civilian Jeep Willys that was originally going to be a V8 conversion. My Uncle lost interest and purchased another that already had a V6 installed. I have acquired the original project but don’t have the time nor money to do all the projects that I already have going, let alone a Jeep. It will come with two frames, one has work started for the V8 conversion (1946), the other (1947) has all the stock(?) parts installed (engine, trans and differentials.) The body is currently off the Jeep. The body is in pretty good shape for its age. Work has been done on the floors and PORed to repair/replace rust. This Jeep will take some work to put back together, but most, if not everything, is there. The age-old saying goes, it ran when parked, but needed a starter. I imagine by now it will probably also need carburetor work (new seals and gaskets) as it has been a very long time since it has ran.

(12/23/2009) The body has been raised to fit an aftermarket gas tank.
“Up for your consideration is a 1943 WW II US military Jeep with a 1/4 ton Bantam trailer the Jeep is fairly complete it was running and was in the process of being restored but due to a move and other reasons that is no longer an option. The engine is all original except the carb which was being replaced by an aftermarket one as I could not find a correct one. It has a new ignition switch which will need to be installed as well as that was also being done but halted. It has the battle rims and the data plates and blackout lights. The Jeep sits on lift blocks to clear an aftermarket gas tank and provide a little more clearance the headlights are from a CJ 2 but the grille was not cut or altered to allow them to fit making for an easy to convert back fix.
The trailer has been modified and has a drop gate and some rust in the front also the hitch and tongue has been extended and a ball hitch added and the pintle hitch was removed at some depot at some point in time, I looked for a long time and was quite happy to eventually find an original WW II trailer to go with this project. The tail lights are not original neither is the steering wheel or roll bar or seats.The body or tub is in good condition with no rust or major work needed to bring it back to stock. IIRC this has 20K miles on it I bought it from a WW II veteran and was going to restore with my dad who was also a WW II veteran having served in the Pacific theater he learned to fully appreciate these and what they could do ….”
Roberto got a change to take Altona out and play in the snow in Spain. I too got out and drove in the snow in Biscuit, but I don’t have a top … it was really cold! In fact, at one point a truck drove by me at about 40mph and launched slushy snow/water onto the hood, into the windshield and over the windshield into my lap! Fortunately, I had my snow bibs on and was dressed warm, so no damaged done …

Brett spotted this project. I think at the very least the body is a DJ-3A. However, it shouldn’t have a PTO or the CJ-2A windshield. So, I’m gonna guess this is a combo vehicle of some type — probably a DJ-3A/CJ-2A.
“great shape willys flat fender $1300.00. needs some tlc. the axles were just totally gone through at six states. drivelines rebiult. basically i was going to do a ground up restoration but i have a baby on the way and this needs to go. so the frame, axles total under carrige is all done and undercoated. i just bolted the body back on without finishing it. so if your wanting a cool project that is started out right call. it does also have a pto winch. price these out and you are getting a hell of a deal. i have 800.00 just in the seat frames and having them upolstered. call me with any questions. thanks for the interest.”
