UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
“Virtual frame up restoration of a 1954 Military M170 Frontline Ambulance to great running condition. I wished I had unbolted the body from the frame and replaced the little body pads because that is about the only thing not restored or replaced on this jeep. Engine rebuilt with less than 20 hours running time on it. Rebuilt radiator, NOS carburetor, NOS fuel pump, complete new Vintage wiring harness, NOS lights, power switch, steering linkage, new brake shoes, emergency break system, rebuilt transmission and transfer case, hubs repacked/rebuilt, New military tires, new exhaust, exhaust manifold, NOS cross over tube, water proof plug wires, accelerator peddle and linkages, cables, speedometer cable, NOS fuel tank, NOS passenger seat, etc., etc., etc. I have over $12,000 of parts and shop labor invested in this restoration!
24 Volt power system with 12-volt starter. This makes it crank fast and is therefore easy to start. Very little rust. Pictures show the major places on the body where there is any pitted rust other than the bed. Bed had some pitted rust. I scraped, primed and painted that area, covering it with plywood for protection when hauling rocks, etc., (it is a working jeep).
Note the importance of this rare jeep model. The M170 Frontline Ambulance with the twenty inch stretched body length is a very rare Willys model. Some reports show less than 2500 ever made, (and possibly only 300 running today), as compared to the much more common M38A1. It was the precursor to the Civilian CJ6 which Ronald Reagan drove on his ranch. While most parts are interchangeable with the M38A1, several are unique to the ambulance.
I restored this Jeep with the help of the local Lonestar Military Vehicle Preservation Association (MVPA). Hopefully there is a chapter in your area. We used ours as a fun hobby and kid’s car at the ranch. For parade restoration, I would recommend configuring it into the 7 man troop carrier version (which was not an uncommon configuration while they were in service) rather than buy the required ambulance canvas top, stretchers and rails for it to be set up as an ambulance.”
This sure looks like a good price as the body appears in great shape.

UPDATE: This is back on eBay, again
(04/12/2010) The seller provides some good details on body issues.
“1946 Jeep CJ-2A Column Shift VIN # 37776. I have a clear Michigan title in my name. I bought this Jeep just about a year ago with the intent of restoreing it, but unforseen circumstances and my physical health have now made it impossible to do so. The Jeep has a really good hood and front fenders, both front foot pads have rust holes, both side panels have some rust at the bottoms, left side panel is dented at the rear, but solid. Right side has rusted thru at the rear where the wood supports are, and has a little more rust at the foot pad than the left side. It has a good tailgate, 4 military style tires w/orange wheels w/ the black pinstripe. Front floors have rust, rear is good, but is wavey from use. Windshied frame is rusted, but restoreable in my opinion. It only has the drivers seat. Along with the column shift, it has a Monroe hydrualic tank and control for a three point hitch, and has a few small peices of that on the rear bumper. One of the Monroe tanks sold on E-Bay for $300.00 by itself. The engine turns over freely, and in fact I started it breifly by pouring gas down the carb, just to make sure it ran. The tranny and tranfer case seem to shift well, and the frame looks good too! I have new front floor pans, wheel cylinder kits, a new six volt battery, and probably a few other small things too. This is a great Jeep to restore. The picture was taken just before I bought the Jeep last year. If you need more, I can take them, but I’m not real good at the picture/computer thing. If interested, call Mark at (231) 690-0868.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000
(08/30/09) This looks like an old school flattie with the aluminum cast slot rims. The cage looks solid and the updates sound perfect for an offroad, onroad jeep.

(08/24/2009) “1942 MB Willys Jeep, Original 134 CI flathead 4 cylinder, Warn overdrive, Many new parts, Lots of work done,
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.
This might be a good deal if you need to replace your CJ-7 body.
“Have a complete new fiberglass body, from the 1 piece front end to rear of the tub, including the windshield frame, body mounting kit, throttle bracket, and How To CD. Also have a 1986 Laredo rusty smashed tub with a Clear AZ title and some other misc parts laying around I’ll throw in. Just the fiberglass would cost you about $2200 plus shipping and tax, I’m thinking a value of around $1500. Looking for a used #7000 car hauler type trailer, tractors, military vehicles, short or long guns, vertical milling machine. Just starting a Willys CJ3B project. Open to most anything. Kind of taking up inside storage space, so I would like to see it on a trailer leaving the yard, before the next project starts taking up space.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
The body is a bit rough, but plenty of parts on this no reserve FC.
“60’s Jeep FC150 complete, yet not running. Been sitting since 1975, has bad tranny. Bill of Sale only. Snow plow assembly already sold.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
This looks nice enough, but something odd’s has been done to the normal fuel inlet. It’s also got the wrong grille for a 1946.
“1946 Willys Flat Fender Jeep. Excellant Condition for this vehicle, Only minor rust on under structure. All floorboards solid. Odometer reads 17,000 uncertain how many times it has rolled over. Overall very solid vehical for 1946..”
UPDATE: Was $7500. **SOLD**
This appears to be a well done conversion with some great details. Check out the extended cab. I noticed the extra window and thought that looked unusual, but the extended cab is so well done that I had to go look at other truck pics to figure out how it was modified. The dashboard looks nicely blended between old and new.
“This is a truly unique vehicle with $20,000+ invested in build. It is a Jeep Willys Cab with a custom oak bed sitting on a 1988 Ford Ranger 4×4 frame and running gear. It also has a custom interior complete with power seats. An incredible amount of time was invested in the extended cab. It looks like it rolled off the assembly line as an extended cab truck.”
Looks solid, though I’m not familiar with the military spoked rims 🙂
“1951 Willys CJ3A For sell!!! I buy old jeeps and restore them then resell. I have done many jeeps over the years… I got this one from the second owner here in Dry Western Colorado who had it for about 15 years on his ranch, it had a hard top on it the whole time so there is NO rust in the jeep. I sand blasted the whole body and wheels, epoxy primed and put WW2 OD green for the paint. It has the flat head four cylinder motor. I rebuilt the carburetor put new points condenser and spark plugs in it. motor runs good, starts right up every time, has good power, does smoke a little blue smoke but not bad at all. Has T-90 transmission. I rebuilt the front brake cylinder, put all new gauges in the jeep with a new speedometer cable. put new canvas seats in the jeep from Surplus City Jeep Parts, they are very comfortable and very well made… The owner before me had replaced the wiring, so that is a year or two old. Comes with the hard top and doors that where on it before I tore it apart if you want it, also comes with rear seat. This jeep is a tight little jeep and is really fun. I have driven in just a few times since I have done the restoration and it drive’s good, I have taken it 50 MPR and it doesn’t rattle or shake like some of the old jeeps. keep in mind its over 59 years old.. I have a Colorado title for the jeep. if you have any questions please call me at (970-210-0680) or email me. Jeep needs just a few things to get her all done such as light bulbs, gas tank sender and and a few other things to get it all done.”
