Dave’s selling this 1961 CJ-5. I did ask about the later body mounted on the chassis and he said that’s the way he bought it. If you have questions, email him a swordbearer347 @ gmail.com (remove spaces from around the @).
“For sale is my 1961 CJ5 Jeep, which I have owned for the last eleven years of its life. If you’ve ever wanted to own one of Jeep’s great CJ5 models that is in excellent mechanical condition, here’s your chance. This Jeep is perfect for trail “Jeeping,” hunting or just to drive around town (which is what I’ve done with this Jeep – I’ve had it off pavement only a few times – flawless performance.) This CJ5 will serve a new owner well and give years of enjoyment. Every system on this Jeep has been rebuilt or reconditioned, most within the past four years. The body, which is in good condition, has not been touched but everything else has.
This particular CJ5 has the Jeep Hurricane 225 cubic inch V6 under the hood; more than enough motor to provide all the power needed. It also has a PTO winch and an overdrive. The V6 engine coupled with the Warn overdrive gives this Jeep more speed than the original engine/gear setup and more than enough for almost anyone!
Here’s a list of mechanical work that has been accomplished since I’ve owned this Jeep.
• BF Goodrich K02 Tires mounted.
• Carburetor overhauled
• Complete suspension rebuild; including Rancho shocks, new leaf springs, shackles, U-bolts & bushings.
• Emergency brake completely rebuilt
• Engine tuned
• Transmission and transfer case removed & rebuilt
• New heavy duty clutch and throw out bearing installed
• New rebuilt Warn overdrive installed
• PTO winch installed/mounted
• Heater system removed/reinstalled with new parts; tested & works as designed
• New & proper clutch linkage & bell crank installed
• New oil pressure, voltage and engine temp gauges installed
• Complete brake rebuild to include new master cylinder and wheel cylinders
• New front wheel bearings and races installed
• Front steering knuckles serviced
• New brake and clutch pedals seals & springs installed
• Battery & cables replaced
• Alternator replaced
• Gear boxes serviced
There could be more, but this is what I have invoices for and what I can remember. Almost all the work has been done by a very reputable Vintage Jeep rebuild/repair/restoration shop in LaPorte, Colorado. This used vehicle is in good condition, but is sold “as is.” No warranty expressed or implied.”
