I suspect the seller is wrong about the year.

“1946 CJ-2A , Body is rough,minor rust in left front corner of floor pan. Engine has compression but is not running. 3spd manual trans, pto winch .I pulled the carburator apart, blasted it with baking soda but havent got any further . Just too many projects. Driver seat was removed to work on fuel tank, I have it , it’s just not in the photo. The fuel tank is rusted badly and needs to be replaced. brake cylinders are frozen. vin did not match vin on title, had vin verified by chp and they added a blue tag to the firewall. all paper work is now clear and vehicle can be registered. This would be a fun project for someone that has the time. all questions cheerfully answered”

(12/16/2012) Randy dropped by to see this Lefty. He reports it runs well and does not smoke, but he didn’t test drive it. The floors have been patched and the hat channels and tool box floor are pretty gone.

“This 1948 CJ2A Willys is all original except for seats and wheels. We have the original seats, but need to be upholstered. Engine, transmission and transfer case rebuilt last winter, new rear end installed also. At that time added power steering, have original steering box and shaft, if wanting to go back to original. New battery. Starts and runs good, does not use oil. Original identification plate and transmission/transfer case diagram.

(11/24/2012) Glenn has his Lefty CJ-2A for sale.

“This is Willys CJ2A S/N 185318, a documented Lefty, as discussed in “Calling All Leftys” on The CJ2A Forum. This is a PROJECT!! It needs EVERYTHING restored. Mostly complete vehicle, rusty body and frame. Frame has been repaired, repaired again, needs more repair now. Body has been off frame, repaired, welded in floors, panels and needs more repair now. Engine, drive train are stock, non running, looks complete, I haven’t tried. Has a rear PTO unit, but needs repair also. As per PO, this Jeep was running when put into storage about 5 years ago. I added stock KH 16″ rims with oversized 7;50X16 tires, took out bucket seats, added stock left seat frame. RH seat is not stock, maybe Crosley. The dash tag is very readable with CJ2A-185318. The frame tag is missing. The ACM Number looks like 17?579 and others in that neighborhood show the third digit might be a 5 or 6. Buyer will research further. This is very near the end of Lefty production as per Willys Service Bulletin 48-27 and less than 20 have been accounted for making this a very worthwhile project. Sold with a Bill of Sale only as Maine is a non title state. I can license and insure legally in Maine as it is. “I am selling a 1948 willys cj2a “lefty” Jeep!! There were less the 10,000 of these jeeps built one year. Willys put the spare tire on the drivers side instead of the passenger for a few months of production. The jeep does have some rust and body damage but can be fixed pretty easy.. the motor starts right up and seems to run good but the carburetor could use a rebuild. I put a new gas tank with sending unit in the jeep and also I have new canvas seats coming for the jeep… Jeep does need some TLC but would be a nice project to fix up for hunting or to do a full restoration… Please fell free to call me at (970-210-0680) for any question… Jeep is located in Crawford CO but I can deliver the jeep..”

“I bought this about 15 years ago and it has been a blast. I have a large farm and we used it to cruise around here and taught my kids how to drive on it. It runs excellant and has the original Hurricane 4 cyl. Red Devil engine with a 3 spd. Trans. The tires are great, but as you can see they are not original equip. Recently installed entire brake system. We would use this to ride around at hunting season and the occassional trip down to the local watering hole. It has been great to us and has always started and never left us stranded. It truly is a great piece of history that would make an excellant canidate for restoration or use as is. We have had our fun with it but just don’t use it much anymore so it is time for it to go to a new owner.”

“We have a 1947 Willy’s Jeep, white with Blue seats and top. It was pieced together with 1942, 46 and 47 parts in the late 1980’s, trailered from Arkansas to Michigan in the early 1990’s and has been stored in a pole barn since then. The body is in good condition, the engine runs, it does drive but it does seem to ‘eat’ batteries. My husband and I don’t have the time or resources to work on the jeep and hate to see it set. It comes with the spare tire and the gas can that hooks to the side. There is a title to this jeep, and it was licensed back in 1994.”

“my step dad passed away and now im helping my mother sell his jeep willys. not sure how long he has owned it but can tell you it was longer than 12 years. it has always been stored inside while he owned it. since him and my mother have been together in 96 it has been driven only bout a dozen times. maybe once a year. was always taken good care of. i do not know the extent of what kind of resto was done. the frame appears to have been painted at one time…..”
