Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Here is a sweet truck.
“1963 Willys 4X4 PickUp for sale. Aprox 98000 original miles. Super Hurricane 6 cyl engine, runs strong and smooth. Koenig PTO winch works great. Beefy bumpers front and rear. This is a clean nearly original truck; upgrade from vacuum wipers to electric. Paint and body are in very good condition- no rust. This truck has been very lightly used, never abused. Great for farm truck or trip to the car show! A must see! $8000 OBO”

“This little girl got her second chance at life. She’s a 48 that was stripped to her frame and redone. There was 14,901 miles on it when I got it, so the motor is untouched and starts right up. I put 152 miles on her so far since I finished her. The body is all Steel!!!! Not a Bondo bucket like a lot of them I’ve seen. I replaced all the rusted areas with the original thickness steel, not the cheap reproduction panels. Seats were redone to original specs. This one was not ordered with a rear seat so the factory plugs are still there! The suspenion has all new shocks, bushings, bolts, brake lines, brakes, everything. She still has her 6 volt electrical system. Now if you are looking for one for the originality this might not be for you. First off you couldn’t get a blue with white wheels jeep in 48. Also, the frame and axels are out of a CJ3B (stronger then the CJ2A), comes with the original axels if you want. And I added turn signals to make the drive easier. I did this jeep to be USED, not a trophy getter, so it is not 100% perfect. Thats why I did the things I did, but she still won best of class at the one car show that I did take it to. I DON’T HAVE TO SELL IT. So no low ballers or tire kickers. I just thought I’d let someone else have fun with it, and I’d start another project. My cell phone number is 1-920-901-6568”

This has an extended wheelbase.
“I am selling my 1948 CJ2A Willy’s Jeep. Its two wheel drive with a ford 9 inch rear end Turbo 400 transmission with trans cooler and a Chevy Crate motor that make 350 Horse Power, a hand made Continental Radiator that can handle a big block, as well as the engine compartment as well all made to take a Chevy big block. Coil over suspension, 3 link in the back and a 4 link in the front with a solid postal front end. Custom ice chest and storage bin for easy access and all of your gear. The fiber glass body is unfinished but that allows you to customize it to your own design and color. The roll cage is mounted to the frame, and the wheel base has been extended to make the ride more smooth in the sand, I have had it on a few trips and it runs great. I have a set of Street Tires BFG’s and a full set of Sand Tires as well. I would like to sell it all together so please make me an offer as the season is starting. I also have a willy’s front windshield that would be included if you want to retro fit it. Clear title and paid registration”

“1952 Willys 4X4 p/u. 1965 Buick Special 225 V6 engine with very rare dealer installed Warn overdrive. Heads recently torn apart and upper engine resealed/rebuilt- inside of engine is incredibly clean. Newly balanced driveline, tires with less than 1k miles. Rated for up to 1 ton towing. Great rock climber, VERY roadworthy. Transmission and tcase need bearings replaced and we just don’t have time to mess with it, too many toys and not enough room! We have another truck- similar year for parts (not in working order) that comes with it, but you must pick it up. Also, newly painted hood with original hold open hardware. This ain’t no ’42 (as listed in the title to the Ad). I wish I could see those vin plates better. This sure looks like an original color. Dayville is a pretty remote town in the middle of Eastern Oregon. It’s a beautiful drive whether driving from the east or the west.

“1942 Willy’s MB Serial# 125537 directly from The Pacific theater. This is an older restoration showing wonderful patina on the paint with that “been there look”. No rust or holes in the usual places.. Engine block# is 220099 and has been previously rebuilt. 12 Volt system (alternator). Additionally, equipped with lifting rings front and rear. Perfect running condition. UPDATE: This now lives on the East Coast. I got to examine it up close at the 2013 Bantam Festival. The work is excellent. It was bought for $9000. It has more of a surrey look to it now.
I used the IMCDb.org site to attempt to locate an image of the jeep to the right from a shot in the movies. You can see a DJ-3A from Blue Hawaii (not a very good shot). Or the same shot enhanced and cropped to the left. Here’s a link to a shot of the Nutty Professor’s DJ-3A.
This flat fender (the one on the right) falls into the ‘unusual jeep’ category. Apparently, it’s a movie star!

Continuing with yesterday’s e-jeep, while not a 4wd vehicle, this eco-motor jeep look-a-like appears inspired by the CJ-5. According to ecofriend.org, “The Fun retails for $24,995, though they have an introduction price of $19,995, and can deliver a top speed of 70mph and an operating range of about 100 miles between charges.
