Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1960 Willy’s Station Wagon 4X4, winch & plow, with original continental ‘226’ 6 cyl engine, 3 spd high an low with optional lock outs. The engine is an excellent factory rebuilt. Body has usual midwest rust with amateur patchs and paint. It drove excellent, but had a click in reverse. I pulled cover off trans an discovered one tooth out of reverse idler gear. Have parts to fix. No time this winter. Will offer as is for $2750. Body panels are available, and restored these are bringing big bucks. Paint has faded since pictures were taken. Will consider storing until summer if paid for. Will need trailering. The only trades I would consider are small diesel tractor or mower like Kubota, Yanmar, Massey Ferguson, Ford, John Deere, International, Oliver, etc. 4×4 an loader a plus. Things with a 4bt or 6bt Cummins engine. UTV also.”

“This 1961 Willys L6-226 Pickup has lived its entire life in Northern California. It has just finishing a restoration started in 2013.
The truck has had every system gone through, after being disassembled to a bare frame, blasted, and its chassis painted. The frame is free of bends, cracks, and rot, as it lead a life of mild use in a dry climate, and sits on 4 new Willys America/ Betts Spring, San Leandro, Ca. made leaf springs. It’s brake system has all new pads, springs, fully replaced brake lines, both rubber and steel, and new cylinders. It rides on original Jeep 16 inch truck rims that have been powder coated in factory Glacier White, and wrapped with brand new 750-16 Hercules HDT biased ply traction tires. “Engine block built by Ford and matches frame and original data plates. The frame is the early MB frame with the Ford ID number stamped into it which proves this is a very early production. This Jeep has been assembled as close to factory standards as possible. The assembly could be classified as, “Built To Museum Quality” standards. The work was performed by Mike’s Military Motor’s in Santa Rosa, CA.
Date of Delivery: 3/25/1942
The accoutrements to this Jeep are:
1) the complete Capstan style winch and Tandem Tow bar assembly
2) period correct WW2 Jeep radio assembly BC 659 all in working order.
3) this Jeep has all of the original style Horse-hair spring seats with all new canvas.”

“1953 Willy jeep. Came off a farm in Lancaster county PA. The second owner rebuilt the engine, front springs, clutch, new wire harness, gas tank, reconditioned harrison heater(works great), new brakes,all done by Walcks in Bowmanstown Pa. New seat covers, half top with doors. Mechanically, it is 100%. the second owner was a purist as the body was left pretty much original(still 6 volt). I have never had to jump or even charge the battery while it sat for over 6 months at times. Have a complete plow set-up from a 1948 CJ2 if interested.”

It is in fantastic condition and except for a few upgrades and/or repairs that have been done over the years it is in original condition. For instance – New canvas top, starter, brake light on the back, overdrive was installed ( a $2,000+ addition), seat belts added etc.

“1953 Willys Jeep CJ-3B, all original, flat-fender, first year of the “Hurricane Four” 4 cyl F-head motor. Original 6-volt electrical system, original oil-bath air cleaner, original vacuum motor windshield wiper. It has spent its whole life in the Oregon High Desert east of the mountains, so there is no significant rust, and was driven only locally for the last 50 yrs, so it has not been “put through the wringer.” Was driven occasionally and parked in back of the house for many years, and has been in a garage for the last several. It could probably be driven away, but has rarely been run for the last 15 years or so. Probably has gas varnished up in the fuel system, and should have a hi-detergent oil run a short while before an oil change, etc. It should probably be taken to its new home via a trailer for face-lift and/or restoration.
