Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Tom’s selling his nice looking truck.
“1960 Willys 4 x 4, rare 1 ton, everyday driver, runs like a top. Original drive train, super hurricane engine with 32,444 original miles. Factory 12 volt, 3 sp. trans. with Hi-Lo transfer case. Everything works, but sometimes fuel gauge bounces from E to F. Great clutch and brakes, new tires and newer battery. Has been restored 10+ years ago. Bed sides are stained and spar varnished 2 x 6’s plus wooden insert can be slid out for metal bed bottom. Steering is tight and straight, has terrific heater and electric wipers instead of vacuum.”

Here’s a nice looking 2A. The seller listed this elsewhere and was unsatisfied with the response. It sounds like he got a lot of people who just wanted to ride in it.
“Frame off restoration by owner with many new parts. NOS where possible. 6/8 volt. Civilian. Was a farm jeep so there are some dents in the bed. 4×4. High/Low gear box. 3 speed transmission. No PTO. 429xx miles on the odometer, but I cannot say it has never been replaced since I do not know that for sure.
Listing here on Craigslist for a more target audience. Had it listed on another site that had too many inquiries in too large an area for me to sort though and reply to.
If you were one of the many who inquired earlier please include the site you found it on so I know you are serious. Others, please do your homework on CJ2s so you know the basics about them. Asking questions where the answer is obvious is a sure tell sign you are not serious.
I don’t have time or the desire for showing just for the fun of it so make sure include enough info so I can determine how serious you are.”

It is a V-6 and doesn’t smoke or burn oil. Body is pretty solid, minus some rust on rear fender wells, but for 62 years old, its pretty nice. The interior seats are in great shape with no tears. The dash is all original and all the gauges work. All the wood on the floor is original and in great shape. “You’re looking at a ground-up restoration of a classic Jeep Willys CJ-2 “Alpha”. Restoration was finished in mid-2013.
I spared nothing in this rebuild. I have been a Willys fan all my life, and I wanted this to be right down to every last detail. This project took months and became quite involved.
The rebuild includes:
* Fully rebuilt engine and transmission
* Completely new clutch assembly
* New brakes, drums and brake lines
* New springs (front and rear)
* New gas tank
* New gauges and wiring
* New front seats and steering wheel
* New rims and tires
* New paint
Mechanically, it’s flawless. Drives perfectly and true to its heritage. Power plant is the stock Willys 2.2L “134” 4-cylinder, and transmission is the famous Willys 3-speed, which is reliable and bulletproof in its simplicity. Only ~200 miles on rebuild.”

This has the tool indents, column shift, and the squared bolts for the bow holders, but lacks the full floaters it should have if it is a ’45. Maybe the rear end was replaced?
