Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I have a 1962 Jeep Willy’s CJ6. Has a new rebuilt original 4 cylinder motor. (F134, I believe it was also called the Hurricane motor). Just picked it up from the mechanic today. Has a fairly recent tranny rebuild. It was rebuilt approx. 2 yrs ago. I would say less than 5K on the rebuild tranny. It would be a good daily driver or a great start to a complete restore. Body is in decent shape. The person I bought it from evidently used some putty to fill in some areas and it is starting to pull off. Pictures show the areas. I have the seat for the back but I was starting to fix some body areas and pulled it out along with the carpet. It also has a decent sound system, currently dismantled at the moment because I needed to build boxes for the speakers. It has a pto driven winch. Its a 3 speed with a splitter. 4X4 with locking hubs. Custom made front and rear bumper. As always have way more invested than what I am asking. In case you are wondering, because CJ6 aren’t very common, it is similar to the CJ5 except it has a 20″ longer wheel base. Any questions feel free to ask.”

“1953 M38A1 Military Jeep in nice condition.
I have owned this Jeep for around 20 years. Around 4 years ago, I had the dents and dings taken out, primed and painted by a local auto-body shop. I did not have them fully disassemble the jeep as that would have been a little too pricey for me. As such, the more hidden areas (like under the fuel tank) are not painted in Army green, nor was the underside of the vehicle. The paint was researched by the Surplus outfit in Oroville and that is where I purchased it. I have a gallon of it left for touch-ups or doing what was not done before.
There are several military gizmos still on the Jeep: It has a pintle hitch, the small black-out lights below the headlights, the canvas-bow brackets mounted on the side, several placards (in brass) showing the serial number, etc, several tie downs for a top and the shovel bracket under the hood.
The floors are (amazingly) rust free and the tool chest beneath the passenger seat is intact with only a small bit of rust. There is a bullet hole in the floor of the tool chest (?) that was there when I purchased it, but not in the lid. It’s something you can ponder over with your friends.
The Jeep needs a thorough ‘going-through’ to check and replace seals where necessary.
The bottom canvas on both front seats need to be replaced but the remainder is quite serviceable.
There is a rear seat bench, painted-to-match of the correct type and the canvas is there.
All 4 tires are military-type and show very little (if any) wear. There is a spare wheel and military-type tire or serviceable but older vintage. There is a painted-to-match roll that just hasn’t been re-installed after the painting.
The jeep starts, idles, runs and drives. I believe the engine (a 4 cylinder) is original and has a new fuel pump and tune-up around 3 years ago. The battery is old, but it starts and the lights work. It has been converted to 12V. The battery well is funky and could use some protective coating.
The speedometer, water temp and oil pressure appear to work. The fuel gauge does not.

“1948 Willys CJ-2A plow jeep. New front brake lines and hoses, new plugs, wires, points and rotor. Newer tires with no plugs or patches. Rebuilt hydraulic lift cylinder for plow. Has aftermarket heater under the dash and a Bestop soft top. Body has some rust (floors are patched with old road signs). Frame is solid.”

It runs and drives nice, except 2nd gear pops out of gear when you release pressure off the accelerator pedal. I am not a mechanic but I think it may need a clutch adjustment. Excellent condition top and side curtains, no holes or rips. Nice black and red exterior and interior. New tires with Willy’s hubcaps. Converted to 12 volt for convenience. Priced very fair for a collector and fun classic car. I will be posting pictures in a few days or so. No low ball offers please! ”

This CJ-2A looks in good shape.
“For your consideration, a very nice and clean example of an early cj-2a.. appears to have been restored quite a few years ago, but I cannot be certain as to when it was done…. Actually the paint appears to be aged consistently, along with the original weathered oak hood blocks.. Seats are the original leatherette grey fabric , and are in nice shape, along with the original rear seat.
Frame is excellent, along with the bumper and gussets that are original to the jeep. There is no rust to speak of, besides some paint missing on the drivers flor due to gas being spilled there. Furthermore, there is mild surface rust on some of the underside areas, but thats to be expected with a vehicle of this age.

This jeep looks like it just came off the show room floor prior to going to a Mash movie. All stock except for the front wheel hubs. I drove it in the Daffodil parade and taken it to car shows.
