The April 1955 issue of Willys News showed thirteen CJ-3Bs and one station wagon heading for Alaska. Someone was smart enough to install hardtops on them before they left, but I don’t see any high BTU heaters on the cowl.

The Karl Tuttle Engineering Company was awarded the contracts to provide survey parties to work in Alaska during the spring and summer months. Their survey work began in 1954 and was expected to be completed in the fall of 1956. Along with providing the surveyors and their equipment the Tuttle Company was also responsible for providing lodging and transportation for the various survey crews. The survey crews consisted of 3, 4 or 5 man groups so these poor Willys must have been packed full with workers and the gear necessary for remote surveying.
