“I’m currently working on a hand built Rubicon style rock buggy that started life as a 1946 Willys flatfender Jeep. I’m still tinkering and working on it when time allows, but I’m willing to let it go if someone wants to make a decent offer. This project is still a long way from being finished but the chassis is fully welded, suspension is complete minus shock mounts, drivetrain is positioned, engine accessories in place, radiator mount mostly finished, etc. A lot of tube work, body work, all the small details, and finishing work are still needed.

100% of the work up to this point has been done by me over the last few years. The frame is 2x4x0.125 box tubing and the round tube is mostly 1.5×0.120 DOM. The 2″ roll cage tubing is HREW I believe. Motor mounts, radiator mounts, most of the suspension link mounts are hand made since I didn’t want to compromise with pre-fab stuff.

Large parts used are:

– 1999 Vortec 5.7 with MPFI spider upgrade
– 1984 SM465 tranny
– 1986 Dana 300 t-case with stock gearing and heavy duty 32 spline 1350 rear output and toyota flange front output
– 1984 Dana 60 front axle with 4.56 ring & pinion, ARB air locker, custom truss/link mount/hydro steering cylinder mount
– 1984 14 bolt rear axle with 4.56 gears, ARB air locker, custom truss/link mount, disc brakes
– Front driveshaft is custom long slip with square slip and round tubing
– Rear driveshaft is from Tom Woods. 1350 CV at t-case output and 1350 at 14 bolt pinion
– 38x13x16 Super Swamper TSL with at least 90% tread and normal rock rash from being run with my previous jeep.

Double triangulated 4 link suspension front and rear with adjustable upper links. Low anti-dive front and low anti-squat rear, so should perform well with the tuned shocks on the rocks and ride comfortably on the road. The front is set up for 18″ coilovers with 4″ uptravel and 14″ downtravel plus more when articulating. The front shocks will max out before the links or driveshaft bind and clearances are good at full stuff. I haven’t tested the rear yet to see what sort of travel I’ll get there, but should be similar to the front.

This project has a clean California title and is currently on non-op status, so no back fees to worry about. There are too many details to write down or picture here, so let me know if you’re seriously interested and we can talk or set up a time to check it out. I’m currently working on tying in the roll cage so the body is sitting off to the side at the moment.”
