“For sale is a completely restored 1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A. New tub, windshield, hood, fenders, tailgate, gas tank, wiring harnesses, engine, rims and tires, gauges, bumper, seats, radiator, and 12volt system. Repainted with a factory cream paint number.”

    Those new tubs are nice, but they lack something found on the old tubs, the little side pocket brackets found on the left side, then the body bends in the metal actually look too perfect, machined formed with today’s hi tech equipment detracts from that vintage look. Some years ago, I went to visit Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA, just had gone through a costly restoration, millions of dollars spent on what was publicized as a restoration, looked beautiful, but as a modern version of the time period. Something is lost in that transition. Whenever I do restoration on anything, I never want it to look perfect, I always want the project to capture a piece of time, maybe that’s my artistic inclinations.
