Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. My sense is that this has some updates to the drive train, but i can’t tell for sure. The seller will take some unusual trades.
“For Sale 46 Willy’s Jeep, Good running Chevy 153 Iron Horse engine. New brakes, shocks, glass, rubber. Front and Rear Lockers, Roll bar, Custom Bikini Top, Hard Top, Easy out Custom Rear Back Seat with Seat Belts, Hitch and Tow Bar. Will let go for $4,000 or $3,500 less wheels and tires.”

“… Ok, it is its original red. It has a full cage. It has a 350 Chevy V8 swapped in with a 400 Turbo Automatic. The transfer case is 1 speed and the jeep is FT 4×4. It has “Emergency Drive” which locks the transfer case and makes it drive like a standard 4×4 instead of the FT style. It appears to have about a 3″ lift on it and is sitting on a damn-near brand new set of 31×12.50 R15 BFG Muds (the old style). For my rockcrawling needs, this guy is too big of a project to get it where I want it. For someone who loves Willys or wants a Jeep to make nice… this is a great platform to start. I’d like to get $3000 for it or do some trading….”

It’s not the prettiest thing.
“Willys Jeep Model CJ-2A (Make Year 1948) 4X4 with 4-cylinder Jeep engine and covered top with doors. Runs good, has new battery, good tires, and gun rack. Excellent condition considering the age.”

“1948 willys jeep like new rubber runs and drivers good. Jeep has P.T.O. and soft top plow not included but could be if you want it. I have another set of rubber I could put on the jeep for 400.00 less”
The body has been placed onto a ’75 CJ frame, which means something had to be stretched (or the frame chopped) to make the body parts fixed. It appears the builder stretched the body at the point where the body normally meets the fenders. Meanwhile, it appears the hood was lengthened somehow (I can’t tell quite how).

I used to live in Madison and remember driving through the small town of Belleville. Given the lack of titles and the non-running condition, I suspect the price may drop.

UPDATE: According to John, Mike got these home successfully. Apparently the VEC ’45 (#10910) is complete enough that it might be possible to get it running. For only $500 (plus gas), that’s a steal! See John’s comment below …
There’s some mixed and matched parts here. I believe that’s a CJ-3B windshield. I’m not entirely sure what the body is.

“1947 Willys Jeep (eats early broncos on any 4×4 course LOL). Powerful cammed 305 SBC with dual exhaust (30,000 on engine). Original Warn overdrive with existing drivetrain. Front lock-outs with big 11×2 inch brake upgrade. Runs excellent. Jeep was from California so the body is very good. Entire jeep needs some tlc in all areas to be extra nice. New master cylinder included, but not installed. Also included in sale is 2 brand new front buckets.”

This has a large number of good looking mods. The body is a bit beat up as if it’s seen a few trails (and there’s nothing wrong with that).

It has some rust, but it sure looks very stock and very complete.
“We received this beautiful little Jeep from a ranch in Poteet, Texas. The Jeep has spent the last 40 years as a ranch Jeep, and wasn’t driven outside of the ranch. Jeep starts up right away and runs, but it needs a complete restoration or you can keep it as is with a little brake work for you ranch. It has a light blue color we believe is original. The body looks pretty smooth on this, but the hood certainly is unusual. Also, it appears there is also an overdrive with it.

Some nice turbine rims on this jeep. It looks great.

To keep with our recent front loader theme, Steve sent me some pics of what I’ll call a ‘custom’ loader (at least, I think it’s a one-off) mounted on the front of an old flattie. Don’t try this at home! Please! This was sold at an auction in Ames, Iowa a few years back.

“For Sale – 1946 Willy’s CJ-2A Jeep. I bought this Jeep years ago with the intention of doing a slight resto-mod on it. I came to realize over the past year that don’t have the money or time to do this correctly…. I’ve recently put on a Rancho 3 inch suspension lift, with a spring over. At the same time, I put on Spiderco ¾ wheel spacers on all four wheels Also recently replaced were the Solex carburetor and an restored the fuel pump back to the original style glass bowl type. The transmission on the jeep was re-built about 3 years ago (approx 3000 miles since rebuild) Runs and drives, there is an issue with the passenger side rear wheel cylinder leaking a little bit, but the replacement is only like $15 from www.Jeepdoc.com …. Asking $1500 for the Jeep, serious inquiries only please.”

This would make a great restoration project.
“This has been my elderly fathers Jeep for many years. There is no rust, as any sign of rust was replaced with new metal. It has a 1960’s Buick V6 conversion. The motor has few miles since a complete overhaul. The jeep runs and drives great. It also has new tires with very few miles as well. The jeep was only driven around a small town on nice days, and always stored in winter months since his ownership. The price is $3,500 and is pretty firm. “1948 Willys Jeep 4 x 4, CJ 2A Body, Exterior is white in color, Interior is black, original 4 cylinder engine, Mileage 61409, Gas gauge does not work, Jeep runs good and you can test drive it and drive it home if you purchase this. Jeep has off road tires and it also has another full set of what seems to be original Ford rims with tires, tires are not original but all hold air. Jeep comes with vehicle cover that was custom made to fit. Does not have a hard or soft top, Equiped with roll bar. Passenger side windshield is cracked.”
