Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This is a mix of CJ and WWII parts. The top may be a Beck or a Kelly.

UPDATE: A great press photo of the experimental Rolligon jeep (More info on the Rolligon from a 2013 post shown below). This just expired on eBay, but I expect it will be relisted. I’ll watch for it. There’s a long article from the June 04, 1955, issue of the Saturday Evening Post here.

Originally published 2013 .. You’ll note the one pictured above seems to be the same as the one in the swamp, based on the hood number.
This jeep was built by the Albee Rolligon Company, which also built an FC version. William Albee, the inventor, has a son who rode on the FC version. You can see a comment from his son at hemmings.

The above pictures was published on page 165 of the March 23, 1953, issue of Life Magazine. You can view it in Google without the watermark. It’s still pretty dark. There are several issues of the magazine for sale on eBay. There is also a story about the roll-on in the September 1955 Readers Digest, originally published in the Saturday Evening Post (date unknown).

(09/15/2017) Listed as a 1942, it looks more like a civilian body and rear axle.

Fresh alternator, power steering pump, power steering pressure line, brake master cylinder. There is some rust on the undercarriage but no holes. This Jeep is not for someone looking for a daily driver but would bee a great starting point for someone looking for an off-road toy. Clean title. /The seller overlooked at least one critical detail during the restoration of this June 20 1941 MB … There were no June 1941 MBs! If the serial number of 116520 is accurate, this would be a late January or Early February 1942 MB.

“For sale a true WWII Jeep that has undergone a total frame-off refurbish. It runs, drives, and even stops. This vehicle has its original serial data plate, as well as a dash tag for the “Cross County Kit.” These Jeeps were originally equipped with large 7.50×16 tires and onboard air compressors. Few of these data tags are known to exist.
Here is a list of all the new parts and work put into the Jeep:
