Don’s selling this CJ-2A, one he believes to be a former Shell station jeep (the tailgate suggests it may have been a service station unit). The blue on the tailgate matches the blue on other parts of the jeep, so it appears to be original to it.

“1948 Willys CJ2A Jeep Ex Service Station Jeep. Original body with a few small rust areas. A previous owned sprayed can painted the Jeep in a camo pattern and we decided to remove the camo paint back down to the original Normandy Blue paint. The grill is back to its original color along with most of the dash and tailgate. On the tailgate we discovered the wording “SHELL ROAD SERVICE” so this Jeep at one time was used at a Shell service station. It also has one of the 250lb front weights, four axle bumper spacers, and it looks like some type of lift was attached to the bed at one time.
New and Rebuilt Parts include: Wiring harness, battery cables, coil, points, condenser, distributor cap and rotor, plug wires, plugs, rebuilt generator, fuel sending unit, coil, keyed switch. Brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, lines, Dot5 silicone brake fluid. Bearing and shaft for the bell-crank, tie rod ends, wheel bearing seals, wheel bearings serviced, drag link rebuilt.”
Pete sent in his 1946 CJ-2A, it’s really nice looking. Has had it 30 years. Mike’s not going to like there is no big back story here, but I think the rig speaks for itself it looks well done and a fun ride. I’m going to guess not an L134.
Thanks, Pete for sending this in!
If you would like to share your rig with us please follow this link and consider sharing a small story and a few memories or pictures, could be an older Willys from your past as well:
Pete if you have some additional original pictures build pictures or information happy to update the post. I was lucky to have gotten a photo album with my Red Wagon filled with shots of the build, and what a transformation that rig has gone through in his 30+ years of ownership.

Seller’s description
Good condition, no visible rust. Runs, drives, stops. Like a 75 year old classic. Stock except for 12 V conversion and presently running 16 inch wheels. Have owned it for about 10 years, driven or hauled to just a few local truck shows. Good NM title in my name. Heater, lights, wipers work.
Located in north west NM.
I liked this one, had not run across this one before.
Not to say it’s not already posted here on eWillys there is alot of content here! But either way from time to time what’s old is new again, at some point the plan will probably included to go over the archives and pull up some of the older stuff. It’s probably new to alot of us.

Pretty neat Monroe Lift
https://www.facebook.com/share/15nRCjr2JN/
From what I could find these were released around Feb, 13 1948 (<<<<< edit, I had 47 here, thanks Barry for making me doible check that), here is a clipping from the Detroit paper.
Also here is a clipping from 1948 for an Ad for a 1948 Jeep with a Monroe Lift and just about everything but a kitchen sink. 8-2-1948
Following that led me to this neat ad. 3-28-1948
Update: Listing Removed.
Yes I fully get the CJ2A was not made in 1950, but as we know it’s possible the title work and sale was done in 1950. My motto is if the title says it’s a 1950, well who is to argue. But really with something this old anything could have been added along the way, Jeep Salads are very common. Also makes no mention of a title in the ad, so may need to do some homework.
I’m kinda green to CJ’s and the differences so come learn with me if you would like to follow along, or click the link for
There is nothing here. No web page for this address. 404 Error.
My easy button to learn more was the resource in
at CJ3A.info they have a great guide so I followed along with that.
https://cj3a.info/cj3a/cj2acj3a.html
First the windshield 2 piece is a CJ2A, the 3A is 1 piece. But those are interchangeable.
Ignition switch on the right side.
The 2A drivers seat bracket has that slight downward slope vs the more 90 deg the 3A has.
Then this has the bow storage on the outside of the drivers rear quarter. CJ2A had this the 3As did not.
Some other features I like on this one…….
This rig has some great Patina to it, it could be a really fun project.
Has a top bow.
Wheels look period correct. Not going to have the period correct air in the LF, but can’t have everything.
Don’t miss that rear PTO!
This was one of “Andy’s Picks”, thanks for the link! Doubt he thought I could drag this out so much, but as I learn might as well pass it on to others who may want to follow along.
Mike shared this rig with a Muller top and some other updates.

“47 Willy’s cja2. Runs great, drives fine. Stills needs work but I have driven this all over the desert out by Kuna. It’s slow, according to gps I’ve done 38mph. It is set up to tow. It’s mostly all original. It’s the 134ci flat head. I put and electric fuel pump in it. It does have the oil bath air filter, I just put on the other filter for convenience. $6000 obo. Some trade maybe considered but cash is best”
Listed as a 1942 VEC, I don’t see anything from 1942 nor from a VEC model.

Also made an appearance in the November 2013 edition. (Magazine copies included). Runs and drives – still needs some rewiring to be completely reliable. The jeep is almost trail ready, just needs some TLC. Clear WA title.”
This is powered by a Toyota diesel. It isn’t clear to me if this is a customer build or imported rig?

This CJ-2A is a Lefty with a rear PTO and gearbox. Thanks to Andy for spotting it.

“1946 cj2a engine is rebuilt with new cam and lifters, bored with new pistons, crank was turned, valves regroups and everything else that goes with a rebuild. I got this out of a clean dry garage where it had been since 1981. I have all the parts to put it back together that are not in pics. Radiator, generator, starter, carb , full exhaust some of it is new. My next move was to do brakes and engine components. This Jeep has a rare Sears and Roebuck hardtop kit from the 60sinstalled on it. I have two extra engines and some other parts that I will sell after the Jeep goes. Price is $6500. Send me your number and I will call. I’m willing to get as many pictures as you want for serious buyers. “

“This jeep is in nice condition very little rust. It has a 289 with a 4 barrel and headers. New led lights. Needs a tune up timing is off and possibly a new carb kit. The rear end is welded. So as of right now would use it off pavement. It has nearly new buckshot tires. CB comes with it. Two ten gallon gas tanks. And two 5 gallon jerry cans. Serious inquiries only”
