Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This Jeep has 7k put into the internal components (transmission was new from Kaiser Willy’s back in 2008, I did each wheel/brakes) jeep wouldnt start 10 years ago and has been sitting since… engine turns over last time I checked a fairly short while ago. I think it was a bad solenoid, since the engine turned freely. I don’t have the funds right now to continue this project, so my loss is your gain.”

Listed as a 1946, this VEC could be a 1945 given the rear floaters. That said, there’s lots of rust.

“I have a collection of 1946 VEC CJ2A Jeep parts for restoration or just parts. I was going to restore this but I have an aircraft restoration project that is more demanding of my time.
Parts include: Rolling chassis, (full floating rear axle), with tub, 5 mounted like new 600×16 military NDT tires, engine, transmission/transfer case, radiator, rear driveshaft, drivers seat frame, non-VEC windshield frame, tailgate, hood, front fenders and grill.
Couldn’t find an engine id number in the usual two places/pads but the cylinder head is the early smooth top design. The engine turns over with a wrench and the crank pulley nut looks correct for a VEC.

“1946 Willy’s Jeep. Mostly stock, has L-134 engine serial number indicates a Willy’s factory remanufacture. Buckshot bias ply non-directional tires 99%, perfect tires for the Jeep. Tons of traction, look old school. Pictures make the Jeep look amazing, in all fairness it is not. Has rust in the usual spots, hat channels and tool box. Tons of new parts, shouldn’t need much to keep puttering around. Price is the price, otherwise will keep. Includes spare running take out motor, transmission and transfer case (both would need a rebuild). Spare axles what not. Also, optional- M416 military trailer with almost no rust, needs tires and paint. Would include with the Jeep for $700. Must sell Jeep before separating any items, thanks.”

“Frame up restoration. The jeep was purchased by my brother in 1968. I started the frame up restoration in 2009 and was driving it in 2014. Frame powder coated and rebuilt motor, transmission/transfer case, brakes, steering. New front axles, radiator, springs, shocks, steering wheel, tires and others. I have records for $16,000+ out of pocket. Some minor cosmetics remain to be completed.
We are downsizing from our 9 acre home and shop and must sell … The Jeep is a real classic at a bargain price.”
