Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Selling my Custom built 1946 Willys CJ2A. It has been stretched 2 feet. It sits on a 1976 Chevy 1/2 ton frame. It has power steering Power Disc Brakes, and it has the 350 engine and TH 350 Transmission. The transfer case is a 203 full time unit. The front axle is a Dana 44 and the rear is a GM 12 bolt with G80 Locker. It has custom bead lock wheels and 28″ TSL Mudder tires. The radiator is Aluminum, and sits between the rear frame rails. Engine has a new timing chain, Edelbrock Torker Intake and Edelbrock Carb. The Ignition is a GM HEI with Accel super coil. It has Headlights and a simple wiring system with flip switch and push button starter. I don’t have a title, but any chevy truck title and vin or Jeep title and vin would work, if you want to run it on the street. The intale is a K&N filter mounted high on the rollbar via snorkel, and the jeep will run in the water to the top of the windshield. Suspention is semi hybrid with no shocks, or sway bar for awesome articulation. no rust tub and very good military green paint. This Jeep will practically go anywhere and its comfortable to off road in because of the stretch and bucket seats. The rear seat is removable and seats 2. Mostly original ’47 body on a ’66 CJ chassis, it features a Chevrolet 350ci crate motor with Holley Dominator intake and camshaft combo, and a freshly rebuilt Holley Avenger off-road carburetor. Exhaust runs through custom headers and side pipe cherry bomb “mufflers”. Also features a 3-speed manual tranny with low “granny gear”, 3.83 gearing, running on low mileage 33in x 12.5in Interco TSL Thornbird mud-terrain tires mounted on deep dish custom rims. “Alas, I realize that I am never gonna do anything with “The General”. Time to let it go.
It runs well, and drives OK, but needs TLC. Worst issue at the moment is a hole in the top from a falling tree last winter, but rust in spots, and many layers of patches and paint. Artistic, almost. Mostly original except for a 12V conversion, and an aftermarket plastic gas tank. $1000, and you can drive it home. (If you’re not in a hurry to get there 🙂

Here come fotos. That stack of steel wheels go with it, as do the doors. There is also a box of misc new stuff; some ignition parts, some seals and bearings, maybe a tie-rod end, and an electric fuel pump. And I neglected to get fotos of it, but there is a home-made spare tire/jerrycan rack for the back, and I think a couple cans for it. No guarantee on the jerrycans usefulness, if I can even find ’em. I also have a couple service manuals for it.

“Selling my 1948 CJ2a. This is not a project vehicle. Always garaged since I have owned the vehicle (10 years). Powered by a 283 with a Muncie 4 speed transmission. Has a rare overdrive gear for freeway. Transmission rebuilt a few years ago. Dana 44 rear axle with air locker (onboard air compressor). Custom cage, bumpers, diamond plating, and exhaust. Rhino lined interior. Fairly new tires and wheels (33’s). Have a newer softtop and doors that are included. Never put back on after new paint job. Has collector plate currently.”
