Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Hello-
I have an amazing little Willys Jeep for sale.
It belonged to my father and we converted it to 12 V and I drove it for a summer. Then it went into storage for about 15 years. It was in a covered garage. It will not start at this time but I believe it will run again with minimal work. I replaced the front shocks and I put a new tow-bar on it. It needs new springs – it’s a little crooked. I have planned to fix it and drive it for 3 years now but I have finally come to the realization that I don’t have time and it will not happen. It is currently in my moms garage and she wants the space back so it’s time to pass it on to someone else….

the rolling frame with working hub lockers – can be restored
the body some parts missing – not the best of shape off of frame
engine block with parts disassembled – 2 cylinders had water in them and rusted out. can be rebuilt
trans and t-case together – great spare parts
its 100.00 for everything I will not break it up if you want anything be prepared to bring a trailer and friends cause your taking it all with you. otherwise it will be going to the scrap yard”

“Hi, im selling a 1946 cj-2a jeep. Havent heard from the guy who wants to buy it so its back on the market til further notice. The has everything engine, seats are orginal and in great condition, transmaission needs to be rebuilt, doesnt run, the ruber on the steering is cracked, has a cj-3a windshield instead of a 2a, has tailgate, rust on frame, a small hole on the drivers and passengers side floor, windshield is cracked, engine is still the go devil but may need to rebuilt since its been sitting around for about ten years but all in all its still a good jeep. 558 Original Miles?? By my calculations, that means this was only driven 9 miles a year. I’m having a hard time believing that. Looks nice enough though.

STORY BEHIND THIS LITTLE JEEPMy buddy is the second owner of the Willys, it’s been in his family since 1967. His dad bought her from a neighbors wife after the original owner passed away. Most of the modifications were done in the 60’s, she’s all original steel and been kept in that 60’s style. The springs and shocks have been upgraded and motor was rebuilt about 5 years ago, the 5k miles is original to the motor and the speedo reflects it. The paint looks very good, there is a few scratches where your feet drag getting in. The body seams were all welded properly, not just covered up and there has never been any body rust. The most off road she’s seen is Deer Hunting, so mainly Forrest type roads and never been wrecked. It’s a great little rig that would make a cool daily driver or weekender.”

This looks pretty good for the price. Note the front frame rails have been bent a little. As noted in the ad, the body has been repaired, most obviously at the passenger step.

Well, it’s not ‘completely restored’, as it has a few wrong parts. However, it looks like a nice jeep that will be available until the price drops.

The seller has a little different definition of ‘drive’ than I do. Normally, I take that to mean the vehicle moves forward.

NEW, master cyl,4 wheel cyls.,4 sets of brakes,brake lines,silicone brake fluid,emergency brake and rear trans seal, new speedo cable, rear wheel axle seals,brake and clutch peddle to cab dust seals,carb kit installed, new exhaust system. All fluid and filters changed, original factory air cleaner purchased to install plus new firewall mounting hardware,new ignition switch in box,carb kit & spare carb, new shifter boots to install. 5 factory 16 inch wheels that need new rubber. I *think* this has a rear PTO, too. It appears in good shape.

“For Sale, this is a good, solid ole jeep. It has the original 4 cylinder flat head engine and everything, including the 4wd, works. It won’t win any races, but it will climb a telephone pole! We have used it many years on the ranch for hunting and building fence. I had plans of restoring it but thats not going to happen in the near future. We recently bought a UTV (because my wife and mother don’t like the standard tranny on the jeep) and we are not using this jeep like we need to. I hate for a machine to set without running so we have decided to sell it. It is ready to go to work or would be a good restoration project.”

(03/01/2012) “I have a 1947 Willy’s Jeep project. It is rough. The front drive line is missing, the clutch & brake pedals are frozen to the floor, the fenders ARE there, not bolted on. It has a Chevy 350 in it, NOT RUNNING. The electrical system needs to be finished. There are no seats in it. The body has surface rust, but NO places eaten thru. It needs a lot of work! I’m letting everyone know now that it is no where near road ready. But does have a lot of potential. It has the rare hardtop, & power take off, it has a winch. The passenger side door is a little bent. So if you call me & want to take a look that’s great! But if I have someone telling me all the things wrong with it or try to give me $500, I’m going to simply say “have a nice day get off my property.” I’m tired of all the ridiculous people w anting it for free. The transmission & transfercase alone are worth $750. Also I am selling it AS-IS, no guarantees. It is on a NON – OP, I am selling it with a bill of sale only. I can go to DMV with you if you’d like, as the title was lost when I moved to Clovis. To come take a look call David at (209) 947-7434 ”
