Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. It doesn’t run at the moment, but looks solid.
“This is a 95% complete and original Willys CJ-2A. It is a perfect unmolested candidate for restoration to drive in a parade or to the beach this summer. It has always been stored indoors. The original L-134 Go Devil engine turns over freely with its own starter. I do not have time for this project and so I am choosing to sell it. I am including a spare Borg Warner T90 transmisison and Dana Spicer Model 18 transfer case for parts. Consider trade for wide front end farm tractor.”

New stock military tires, new gas tank, upholstery, starter, generator, electric fuel pump, regulator, carb & exhaust system. Brakes have been converted to 11″ truck w/power assist. Electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volt. Has full roll bar, gun racks,winch with dual controls, free wheeling hubs, 2 jerry cans, axe, shovel, dead man & high lift jack. This Jeep has been in my family for over 50 years”

(02/09/2011) “1947 Willys Jeep CJ-2A 4 cyl L engine. (Rebuilt) Good running condition. New Battery, New Shocks, New gas tank, New Carbuerator & fuel pump. New floor, front & rear. Windshield frame restored, painted & new glass. Paint partially restored to primer coat. Restoration in progress. All original body parts. Pictures on request. Make an offer!”
Update: **SOLD** Was $550 This jeep used to be red.
This has a tempest slat 4 cyl. It looks like someone did a nice job of installing the updated steering column as well. Here’s a built example of the same motor.
Here is a link to a Jalopy Journal thread about 4cyls. The Mercruiser 3.7 and the Ford 2.3s seemed to be a favorite for fun 4cyl installs.

UPDATE: It turns out this was a MB (was listed as a ’46). And it sold to the first caller. It was listed at $2500.
There’s value, but I can’t quite tell how much. The might be a WWII body.
“this was my willys project . I don’t have the time for it anymore . I have alot of new parts . I have an orig. flat head 4 cyl. rebuilt by nichols & sons machine shop of sac . two new fenders, new hood ,new grill,new tailgait, new gauges, brand new tires, new orig. pads for seats . jeep still needs body work . linkage and carb need to be hooked up . work to be done . “CJ2A WILLY’S 1943 frame with 1947 body and 1946 willys go devil motor. willys marked winshield frame , hood , and tailgate. front: dana model 25 rear: dana model 44 warner t 90 trans (3 speed) dana 18 tranfer case. body needs lots of work. engine needs belts battery, and air cleaner assy. needs new master cylinder, lines , and wheel cylinders.”

(09/27/2010) “I have a 1947 CJ 2A. it is a project vehicle I just havent been able to start on let alone finish. Body is relatively solid, its all there, included in the deal is Dana 27 front 3.73 gears, Dana 44 rear 3.73 gears, NP 435 4spd (from Ford half ton 2wd) all jeep wheels that fit it. Pics available soon. But needed to post this to start the process.”

(03/09/2011) Here’s a parts jeep.
“1948 Willys cj2a includes tub, frame, some steering gear, gas tank, gauges, pedals, brakes and some other pieces. Has a front bull bars and a rear bumper with tow hitch. Tub is straight, firewall and floors are good, bottoms past rear of door need repair. Frame is solid apart from stress crack near front spring- usual place for these from offroad use. Its been on road and used till recently. Axles and wheels/tires not included and no tranny/transfer case. Pictures are older ones but condition is the same. Selling as one piece – $550”
