UPDATE: Price dropped to $700
(10/06/09) This looks like a great price for 2 parts jeeps. The cage alone is worth $100+
“this is 2 jeeps the red one has orignal paint i was told it was running when parked but now the engine is stuck and the other jeep also has a engine that is not stuck they are bolth orignal engines but its missing some parts you can make one good jeep thanks frank 707-484-5251”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2200.
Apparently, the Transfer Case could use some work. Otherwise, this looks like a good price for this CJ.
“1964 jeep cj5 , 4 cil ,4 spd trans, engine is in top condition starts right up,but it does need transfer case work.”
The seller refers to this as a project, but then says this runs and drives great. Given this has a Warn OD, this looks to be a great price.
“It has a 231 buick v6, stock 3 speed trans, Warn overdrive on transfer case. Body is in good condition, has carpet kit in all of tub. Diamond plate rockers and side armor. Good deal, I have too many projects and cant get to this. Runs and drives great. Call me David (509) 590-7764”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
“1959 WILLYS JEEP ….NUT AND BOLT RESTORED….$10,000 AND 1 YEAR INVESTED BY PREVIOUS OWNER….TRADED IN ON A STREET ROD HERE AT RIVER BENZ MOTORS….TOTAL REBUILT WITH 2361 MILES SINCE COMPLETED(READING ON NEW SPEEDOMETER)…NEW ALUMINUM BODY ($3500) AND FIBERGLASS FENDERS, HOOD, AND TAILGATE”
A nice roll cage, a brand new winch, and a clean look body make this appear to be a good deal.
“i am selling a 57 jeep cj 5, body and frame are very solid. runs perfect, brand new winch hardly used. has lots of new parts. brand new tires, new springs. new carb. any questions call 998-4984.”
This is a project, but sounds like a good foundation for a road/trail jeep. it includes an over drive an Dana 30 with an ARB Locker.
“1963 Willys CJ5 with a rebuilt 1978 Buick 231 V6 backed by a rebuilt T18 4 sp with OD. Has Model 44 rear end with 4:27 gears Power Lock locker and Model 25 front same gear and locker. This includes an overdrive, but it’s still a project. The seller is moving.
“This jeep would make a great hunting, wheeling or restoration.has 4″rancho suspension lift, shackle lift, almost brand new 34X10.50 super swampers and wheels, warn over drive worth 6-$800.00 alone, bed lined inside tub.engine is a buick 231 oddfire v-6 runs great.Needs windsheild bolted back on, and some electrical work head lights tail lights and the roll cage needs bolted back in seats not in picture but now in jeep. moving soon must sell $2,000”
“4 cyl,3 spd,warn overdrive can be used in any gear including reverse,power steering,full roll cage,tow bar,reverse and side light.used twice a year for hunting.slight hood damage.call carlos for detail’s at 1-520-777-0670.”
The buyer purchased this jeep a couple months ago, but has never gotten this v6 started. Note: it includes an overdrive. This might be a good deal if the engine turns over and you can talk the seller down a bit (after all, it’s non running & needs new tires) on price. Then go through this check list as these are the most likely issues:
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
“Very nice!!!!! 1965 Tuxedo Park Mark IV CJ5 jeep. This is a very nice Jeep with a $4500.00 paint job and new tires. The motor is new rebuilt with about 1000 miles on it. Runs very smoth and strong with now drivetrain noise. The paint is very detailed on the floor bord, dash, and rims. The seats are camo with three pont set belt with warn hubs”
I’m not a fan of the front bumper on this jeep, but the rest of this looks like a good price.
“1961 Willys CJ5. 4 Cylinder, Rebuilt Transmission, new clutch. Runs good, Top in great condition, Interior needs work
Body is decent but has two rough spots, $1,800 OBO Call: Bill 916-220-6119”
Hey, this looks very nice for only $1500. This assumes “needs a little work” really means little work.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500
It doesn’t run, but it looks in reasonable shape.
“This jeep needs total restoration. we are asking just what we have invested in the engine rebuild and new tires. original manual and about 20 other manuals with new gas cans and containers rough condition outside, only has about 400 miles on rebuilt engine 2.2L, Red with hardtop, 1960 CJ5 Willys Jeep doesn’t run currently needs carburator rebuilt using either the old or new one, have lots of extras, all original paperwork, reciepts for engine and new tires.”
Here’s a running CJ-5, plus a parts jeep, plus a plow. Looks like a deal to me.
“I have two Willy’s for sale. One runs need tlc the other is for parts. Comes with a plow.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.
You’ll need a BIG trailer, but it looks like it might be a good deal if the frames are straight and if you have the space to store all this.
“Four actual jeep frames- one title. One nearly complete flat fender willy’s minus motor. The 72 cj is missing the front fenders and motor- maybe more?? A jeep motor from the same era is included- it did run when it was removed and has been stored inside. Trannys, transfer cases, extra hoods grills windshields- lots of good usable jeep parts. One of the frames is a cj with a lift kit the other is a willy’s. Also included is a bell housing to fit a 350 chevy motor to a jeep tranny, and a hood and grill from a 70’s mail jeep.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3400.
Given the new paint, trailer and new top, this looks like it might be a good deal.
“1955 Willy’s Jeep with Military Trailer. All original. New soft top. New paint $3,400. The pictures look kind of orange but the jeep is Red.”
The pics aren’t the greatest, but it sounds like this is in excellent shape!
“1965 Willy’s Tuxedo Park 20Th Anniversary CJ 5 These jeeps are very rare!!! 225 cu V-6. Holly 400 cfm 4 barrel carb on an Edelbrock manifold. Headers, Overdrive, Full Cage Roll Bar, 11 inch Brakes, Duel gas tanks, Front locking hubs,Tilt and Power Steering and an after market heater. Here are some pictures. I`m going to put it up on a lift and get some pics of frame and running gear for those of you that want more. It`s never had a break or crack in the frame. I even have the original key that came with the jeep when purchased new. It had a single shift transfer case that my dad changed the shifter handles on. You know how those old school folks are. This jeep was set up right. It has a long stroke motor with small primaries in the carburetor for good low end torque and good gas mileage and secondaries for good performance. Its the only 225 I’ve ever seen with a 4 barrel. Not to say they’re not out there. It has 39.000 original miles. With a little cleaning and a nice paint job it would look like new. It has a little dent in the hood and at the bottom of the door. When I say little I mean very little. This jeep was my fathers and he took very good care of it. He passed away 2 years ago and its been sitting outside. It was in the garage for the first 42 years of its life. Its going to be hard to see it go. I would like to see it go to someone who would take care and enjoy it like my dad did. I will send you more pictures if you want. Thanks for looking and hope you like what you see. Steve. My Email is Jeeepin@yahoo.com”
One of our reader’s thinks this might be 1 of 89 produced according to the early CJ-5 Page based on these links (1) Production numbers http://www.earlycj5.com/technical/engines/ (2) If the Dauntless is stock it would be a 67 http://www.earlycj5.com/technical/engines/
Here’s the Ad description “I think it is a 50 are 51 not sure it ran when parked now froze from siting wouldn’t take much to get running again all runing gear is there body wise just hood grill no title.
Make offer! 906-235-0069”
Here’s what appears to be a good price on a running, low mileage CJ-5 with a plow. I’m not sure how it got so much rust if it was garaged for 44 years.
“1963 Willy’s Jeep with plow, 29,540 miles, Garaged for 44 Years! Complete and Original Engine
Convertible Top and Doors, Body sturdy (good amount of rust), Engine Runs Terrific! Still plowing snow (original plow) and tugging out trees! Happy to provide more information”
“1957 Willy Jeep CJ5, F Head Engine, With working Snow plow and Frame, Add-On Custom Cab model number 535 made by Koenig Iron Works, Houston Texas, Runs and drives. New parts included for brakes for all four wheels including master cylinder. Need to be installed. Tons of spare parts, and available parts vehicle not included but open for negotiation. 1500.00 or Best Offer
Serious Inquiries only.”
Jim provided a link to this jeep. This is an unusual CJ-5 due to the very low mileage (14,736) and vintage accessories. I love the old top.
“This is a classic all original 1960 Willys CJ5, garage kept with 14,736 miles, one owner. It is in very good condition with original orange paint and factory plough attachment. It has never been restored but it doesn’t need it. It includes the original soft top, owner’s manual, service manual, and the original receipt (from 1959). Flaws: Rodent chewed a single small hole in the top, approximately 1.5″ in diameter. Seats each have a single crack down the middle of the backrest. Ding on left rear corner. Crack in passenger door plastic window. All of the above are repairable. Other than that, it is in excellent shape. It starts, runs, and drives flawlessly. The original suspension is in good working order. The paint is in great shape. Buyer is responsible for shipping charges, if applicable. Please feel free to ask me any questions.”
There had been some discussion amongst us (maybe it was just Mitch and I?) about whether CJ-5s came with reversed shackles. Well, here’s an early pretty stock 1955 CJ-5 (serial number 10534) pointed out to me by a reader that has a the reverse shackles. So, at least for a time, the CJ-5s came with the reversed shackles.
I couldn’t resist posting this unusual and modified jeep.
“I bought an old jeep to restore but it has not happened and I have owned it for over a year. Its stock with a modified bed with safari seats. I just need it to go to a good home so make me a deal and it will be yours. I paid $500 over a year ago. I am ready to sell for scrap so come get it… make me an offer. Ask Questions and I will answer what I can. Thanks.”
A running, driveable, not too bad looking CJ-5 for only $800. It looks like a deal to me.
“looks and runs very good needs some minor tlc but for the year its pretty nice and all the canvas doors and top are new. this is a fun little jeep its the cj5. Call robert
