Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. If you are look for a run around Jeep, OK. If you are looking for a quality restoration project, this Jeep is a disaster. It is sad the abuse inflicted on this early script Ford. Roll bar runs through the floor and is welded to the frame. The body was re-skinned. I cannot determine how much of the body is original or its condition. Drivers seat was extended two inches. Look over the pictures carefully. More pictures at:

On the good side: The engine spins freely be hand. It has the early scalloped axles. Early windshield hold down, Ford Script, and other F marks.
In addition, included will be the two windshield frames, hood and one combat wheel.”

“I am selling my 1943 Ford Willy’s gpw. I have had this jeep for nearly 16 years. I somewhat restored it while I was younger but left for school and it sat for a while only being driven once or twice a year until the radiator blew a year or two ago. Since then it has sat waiting for some love. I currently don’t have the time or the money to get this where it needs to be. Hate to let it go but it’s hard to keep. “Located in Central West Texas. Ford GPW numbers matching Jeep: Frame number, engine number and body tag all match. Frame is clean, F-stamped as shown. The Jeep has been registered on the G503 site indicating early spring production number by SN. The Jeep has been in Texas since it’s military sale. It has been on a ranch used primarily for hunting. Here is your chance to own a Beautifully preserved original 1942 Ford “script” GPW Jeep. Very rust free body. Hood numbers and Nice undamaged data plates, serial #18xxx , 4/42 …..has Ford engine and drivetrain. An excellent Start to a museum quality restoration.
Frame etc. are in very good condition, Besides the rear crossmember that has been cut. I have included an original Ford crossmember to replace. unfortunately, Inside of body has various punched drain holes, that could quite easily be welded and patched.All Ford seats are also original to the jeep. Jeep did run before being put into very long term storage, will need to complete going through of all systems to be drivable. Does have original Ford engine block that turns with good compression. I will include the correct ford head. Extra missing parts as needed, including windshield.”

Exhaust replaced. New fuel pump. All gauges work (voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature and fuel gauge). Working speedometer.”

“1945 Ford GPW 1/4 Ton Utility. Ford 302 V8 engine, 4 speed manual transmission, 4X4, power steering, power front disc brakes, Unilite Electronic Ignition, Dual Brake Boosters. Wheel base extended from original with longer frame. Vintage metal removable hardtop with locking doors. Front window defroster heater/fan. Engine was professionally built and has low miles (approx. 1500). Two-Barrel Holley Carburetor with manual choke. Starts and runs well. Interior has a full roll bar. Includes a nice heavy front duty tow bar. Also has a Smitty built Rear bumper/Spare tire rack. Locking hubs front and rear (rear hubs currently set non-functioning/fully engaged). Rear Differential rebuilt with new ring and pinion (est. 5000 miles ago). New full gauge set but electronic speedometer works off and on (listed mileage is since the engine rebuild, actual mileage is unknown). Will drive highway speeds with no issues (Drives like an 80’s CJ5 with a V8 power). Originally a Navy Sea Bee military vehicle. Has plenty of panache and public appeal whenever drove or shown.”

Bill shared this post. The seller describes it as a 1943 MB with a GPW engine, but the bumper, the took box lids, and the front crossmember all suggest this is a GPW. Maybe the new data tags identify this incorrectly as an MB??

Has all four wheels (post war CJ rims with modern street tires) but not pictured. Has a post war early CJ motor that is not seized up.
